Catching Up

The weekend has come and gone, but the dust has not. This is what Friday looked like at 9 am.

I had a conversation with a guy from Canada yesterday who said that he prefers dust to snow any day. Sorry, but I just don't get that. Snow can be beautiful. Dust has absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever.

I'm a Southern girl. I'm used to sunshine. But with so much dust, the sun can't even do its thing.

My weekend was filled with lots of time for crocheting ...

A graduation party for Sheryll's daughter.

And a quilt show where my friend Kathy received an honorable mention for her Sadu weaving.

But more about that another time. With dust comes the job of cleaning. And when I clean, I start rearranging. And when I rearrange, I make a bigger mess. Ugh! It's never ending. I just wanted to check in and say I'm still here! I just really wish the dust would go away! Blessings to all, Tammy

As much as I hate snow I have to say I would rather have snow than dust!! I never knew this was such a problem in the mid-east but I guess if I had thought about it I could have figured it out. After all you are in a desert country. So the next time I am whining about all the snow I will think of you in all the dust & I will be grateful!!
Always love your crocheting & your friends weaving is lovely!!
Well, I am going to another treatment today with DH.....Thank Goodness I don't have to drive!! WOO HOO!! 5/24 is my last!! Then my days will be mine!! WOO HOO!!
Have a wonderful day my friend!!
Love,
Marilyn

Hi Tammy...as much as it is such a chore to clean I always end up fluffing and refluffing which makes it worth while in the end. I am having company this weekend to celebrate my son's confirmation so I am doing the same thing as you!

Hi Tammy...So glad you came by my blog and got caught up on posts. Ohhhhhh, I don't think I'd like the dust, either. I know when I lived in Arizona and there were dust storms, I didn't like them one darned bit. Hope it's subsided now. Take care and have a wonderful day. Sincerely, Susan

DUST DUST GO AWAY
Ok, I complain that the winter won't end here in Colorado, but dust is just USELESS! And how many times do you dust? Yikes........
My husband was stationed in Turkey in the '80s and he complained about that dust, too.
SOOO, I'm sending YOU a warm piece of sun and clear blue skies with a big HUG attached!

I've lived in both Tammy and I think I would pick snow anytime. your photos remind me of the dust storms in the southwest in the early 1960's and it was just like that, seeped in thru all the cracks and was just choking all vegetation. sending you virtual hugs!!

I'm laughing (sorry) about your parents "retirement". Wow, that was interesting! I hope they are happier!
Dusting IS such a waste of time. I put it off as long as I can stand it (and I have a husband who 'gets' me) so that when it's clean, you can actually see the difference! And I agree, why pay a maid to do that? Allergies must be a problem there!
We had a dust storm a month ago from the GOBI. Red dirt covered the mountains (and my deck) and THEN the wind blew up some red dust from AZ a couple of weeks ago! Weird!
Are you planning a state-side trip this year?
Have a dust-free, tea-filled, sweet week my friend. A-chhooooo..........:)

I'd send you some of the wonderful rain we are having if I could to settle the dust. Why is it when we clean we make a mess? But I am happy to hear you had some time to do some crafting and spend time with friends. Take care and have a good day/night.

OUCH! That is some dust storm you had. I don't miss that at all, and yes, I would take the snow anyday over the days when you can't see the sun through all the dust. What makes it even worse, is that after (and during) the dust storm is all the cleanup. Sorry you have so much to do to clean up from the storm. Good luck rearranging all the furniture.
Your friend's quilt is wonderful. I am sure the show was spectacular. Between that and the crocheting, I am happy to know you found quality time this past weekend. Only a few more weeks of school left. YAHOO!!

Have a great Wednesday!

I would be in big trouble with the dust, I thought living in the country, windy Iowa was bad, I never seem to keep up the dust here. But Not to big a fan of snow either especially after 64 inches. Thanks for the uplifting words. ALOT!!!I don't doubt I am callED to be an artist, It is just those nasty voices (the devil whispering lies) I don't believe him but, it does get me down sometimes. I don't want you to think I am not grateful for my gifts and abilities. I thank God daily for all my Blessing, Deborah I hope the dust settles soon!

I don't get it. Dust is dirty and snow is clean. Well, until it sits on the ground a little bit. Me, I'd gag with that much dust. But I have asthma.

Wow,that dust looks like our foggy days. I can't imagine that. I agree, I'd prefer snow to the dust. Crocheting looks nice! Really like the colors, is this a bag? Pretty stitches.

I think the dust would just be nasty, Tammy. I'm sure it gets into every crack and corner. I'm with you on the cleaning. That's what happens to me, too. I start cleaning, then moving furniture, then it's a royal disaster for two days while I get things back together. Maybe I just won't clean, thatt's getting tiresome. You always find wonderful things to do in the meantime though. Hope the dust clears up soon. Diane

HI Tammy, I can't even imagine living with so much dust. But doesn't it create beautifully colored sunsets? I'm not so sure about the snow either. Yes, it's beautiful but so cold! I wear leggings under my pants from November to June each year and I live in California - haha!

I will never again complain about the snow. I will take that any day over that dust. Yuck, is all I can say. But, that new bag of wonderful colors should help to cheer you up. Happy Graduation,
Kate

Hi Tammy! I live in the Northeast as you know and as much as I complain about the snow, I'd take it over dust any day! There seems to be so much of it, that even the sun can't burn through it. I don't know how you stand it! I also LOVE your recent crocheted item--it's beautiful! And your friend's weaving and fantastic as well. And, like you, when I start cleaning I end up making a bigger mess and then I'm totally overwhelmed and want to give up! And there the mess sits for God knows how long! I'm wishing you a wonderful day and evening. thanks for visiting, my friend!

I also yearn so much for a place to create... I think my dream is too big and I need to think of something small.... Have a lovely day.

Too much of anything is never a pleasant thing: too much rain: not good. Too much dust: not good. Too much snow: not good. Too much heat: not good. "Equilibrium" is the word ;-)
Hope this week is going better weather-wise. It has started to rain over here, which is very refreshing after all the heat.

Oh T, you are so right. I would much rather have snow. I am so sorry that your weekend was so dusty. I laughed when you mentioned rearranging and making a bigger mess. I do that too. My husband cringes when I get into a cleaning mode, because it usually means chaos for awhile.
Your crochet is lovely and must be a solice on those dusty days.
hugs

Seems like all that dust would create a lot of allergy problems too. I agree, I'd take snow over dust ALMOST any day!

love ya!!

Bless your heart, all that dust has to get you down, especially since you have memories of the Southern sunshine to comapare it to. I will try to think of you this summer when I am tempted to complain about the heat and humidity here. Thank you for visiting me and leaving the sweet comment.
