In March it will be 2 years since I found a little abandoned tortoise wandering my neighborhood, carried him home and named him Tofu.
He's still the apple of my eye.
As you can see, I had a little fun with him last year. An apple for September.
Pumpkin season in October.
He even wore a costume for Halloween.
The weather is perfect right now so he is enjoying his time on the balcony. Every day he eats lettuce, tomatoes and/or cucumber. Whatever he doesn't eat gets tossed into the potted plants and lo' and behold but what should appear?
Tomato plants.
The first blossom.
All because of this sweet boy.
Happy Thursday,

Tofu is absolutely adorable! How does he stay warm in the cold weather? Do you have to have a little shelter for him, or is your patio area perfect for such a whimsical creature? I love your crochet costumes for him. So incredibly cute! Now you have tomatoes growing for him!
How fun, a personalized Tortious. Love the outfits. He is beautiful. What a lovely shell.
You are so talented. Love all your photos.
That is the cutest thing with the crocheted shell covers you made for him! Where does he live when he's not on the balcony...does he have free roam of your home or do you keep him in an aquarium?
That is just so sweet Tammy. I had no idea that you had a tortoise, I must have missed the last blog about him/her.
You are just too lovely.

I remember the post when you brought him home and love to see he is thriving!
How much fun is this! Our daughter had a land tortoise as a pet for a number of years. We enjoyed watching him, and he was so easy to care for. Unfortunately, he was bitten by something and died quite suddenly. Love the costumes you make for Tofu.
Oh what a cute little tortoise! He's one lucky guy to be spoiled by you. I wish all animals got treated so good. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
How did I not know about Tofu? He is absolutely darling. I like all of the photos of him in his dapper costumes, but I LOVE the last one. He looks like he's smiling. I always wanted a turtle or a tortoise but have never gotten one. I understand that they have very long lives. Tofu is lucky to have you because I know you will take wonderful care of him. And now he has his very own tomatoes too!
Blessings,
Betsy
Tofu is so cute. He reminds me of the tortoises I had when I was little. They were called Napoleon and Josephine.
If he isn't precious! Love the little outfits you made for him. I found a baby wandering around in my yard but someone said they can carry salmonella? Anyway, I took him down to the lake and set him free. Obviously, your little guy is healthy and hearty after 2 years! What a cutie!
Well Tofu is certainly the best-dressed tortoise I've ever seen - adorable outfits Tammy.
My brother found Tommy in his French house garden when purchased about 17 years ago. . . . . .and he's still there! Hibernates under the same hedge every winter then pops out come spring!
Dearest Tammy,
Oh my, your Tofu boy is a darling and how well he is adapted to being a model for your crocheted creations!
Love his happy face and he seems to thrive well on his diet and you indeed are growing some plants from the seeds...
Hugs,
Mariette
Your Tofu is a darling! He looks so cute in his outfits!
OH WOW...2 years already?! I remember when you saved this little guy. He looks quite sweet in his crochet outfits. I'm sure those tomatoes will be sweet and flavoursome being home-grown. I love the name you gave Tofu. :)
Has he grown very much in the two years? He looks much more cooperative than our cat when it comes to costumes!
The self sown tomatoes are often the hardiest. Hardy line your little mate Tofu. So cute!
