We have a sliding glass door in our bedroom that leads to a balcony where I have plants and put bowls of food and water for the birds.
Since the windows are tinted, it is the perfect spot for birdwatching because I can see them, but they can't see me.
I don't use my Canon often anymore, but it does come in handy for close-ups.
But then the pictures just sit there and I do nothing with them, so decided I would share them here every so often.
They really are so entertaining to watch but hard to capture when there's a whole group of them visiting.
There's a lot of blurry images for sure.
I'm happy if I manage to get even a few good ones.
There is an unreasonable joy to be had from the observation of small birds going about their bright, oblivious business.

I think your close-up bird shots are fabulous, Tammy. Just great. Hope you have a good week ahead. Sincerely, Susan
Oh how I miss my back yard in our previous home....I had so many birds to watch. Here at the Villa, we are not allowed to have bird feeders, so I just watch and listen to them chip in the trees.
You photo's are stunning.
Oh so pretty! I love watching birds and on a given day I get to see chick a dees, doves and flickers. I love my feeder. 😊 Kit
That's pretty neat that you feed and water the birds and you can watch them enjoying it all. You're such a good person to take care of the wild kitties and birds! Was that a dove in a few of the shots? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oh I enjoyed seeing all of your pretty bird photos. I think they are all wonderful and I love your sweet heart in caring for these little creatures. Thank you.
Blessings,
Betsy
Dearest Tammy,
That is so lovely to be able to observe from so close!
We can see them feed while having breakfast, from our bay window but it is not that close.
The balcony is close to the sliding doors of the bedroom but no feeding there...
Those are the true little miracles in life and it is sad that some people never notice them...
Hugs,
Mariette
I have always loved watching the birds and wildlife-so peaceful and freeing
How lovely! I can sit and watch birds going about their business for a very long time, they are so entertaining. I don't mind that your photos aren't perfect, they're good enough for me. Happy New Year, Tammy. x
I thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful photos, Tammy! I love bird-watching, especially when they come to drink and bathe in the birdbath we have in the back garden...mostly Noisy Miners and Butcher Birds. A plover family and crested pigeons come and visit our front garden each day to drink from the shallow dish of water I have out for them. It makes my heart happy to see them. :)
Tammy - that quote is spot on - I could watch the birds at my feeders for hours. Lately, some will land on a hand holding sunflower seeds - that is 'unreasonable joy'!
Hello Tammy, I think maybe I should try it, especially how nice it is to catch nice frames, then I'm eagerly waiting for this kind of sharing :)
I love bird watching as well. Great photos.

Your balcony food and water are an oasis for the birds, especially the water.
We have the same species of birds in my city but they are an introduced species here - non-natives - and the introduced doves are listed pest species. It is lovely to watch birds though. I love watching families of honeyeaters frolick in the bird bath. Other daily visitors include Myna birds and magpies. How lucky you are to have a one way window. Cheeky! :-)
