Perspective

perspective

A particular attitude towards or way of regarding something.

Perspective has a lot to do with the way we view the world and our surroundings.  Yesterday I posted about the problem of excessive littering and trash in this country.  I read that there are supposed litter laws, but if there are, they are certainly not being enforced.  Seeing trash blowing everywhere is one of my biggest pet peeves and something that I can't overlook when I am out and about.  Others may be able to pretend it's not there or maybe they just don't care, but for me it is totally unacceptable to litter the land.
My view from our bedroom used to be of treetops and sky, but several years ago, the Ministry came around and cut them all down.  There also used to be a nice house across the street with huge palm trees surrounding it.  Now there's an empty lot for sale that some people seem to think is a landfill.
The word perspective came to mind when I was watching this dove outside my window.  Everything just looked so drab and dull.
But then the little dove took flight.
And landed right in the middle of my pot of moss roses.
All of a sudden the view was so much nicer.  Adjusting our range of vision is just like cropping pictures.  We can choose what we want to see.
To the left, palm trees.  In the middle, ugly empty lot.  To the right, beautiful green and blooms.  I choose to look left and right.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Tammy,
This is such a beautiful post, it immediately brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing it. You are so very right!!! It is all truly about perspective wherever one lives.

Warmest regards,
Linda

That would bother me too! Michigan is very anti litter and was one of the first states to offer deposits on cans :-)

You have got to be one of the most positive people I know ate my. This is a beautiful post. Are you recovered from yesterday? Take care in the heat. We're supposed to be around 105 for the next week, starting Thursday. Very unusual for here.
Blessings,
Betsy

I read your previous post as well. I can well imagine how disheartened you are after your walks and seeing garbage lying all around. I see a lot of garbage in my neighbourhood too, but probably not to the extent you do. I never pick it up. After reading your posts on the litter problem, you have inspired me to do the right thing now. The right thing IS to pick up the garbage that we see around. I do see one elderly lady out walking when I walk the dog in the morning, and she always has a bag with her, and she is always picking up litter. Thank you for this inspiration Tammy. I hope you have a great week, and have some relief from the heat, even if that means enjoying a bit of time just on your own balcony with Jingles :)

Well done dear. Thankfully we can choose our view. I have never understood why people don't clean up their surroundings. No matter how poor a place is there is no excuse for filth. Thank you for letting me say my feelings. I love your beautiful Moss Roses and the lovely grey dove. Jingles enjoys them too.

Hi Tammy! I hate to see trees being cut down, I just don't get it! We used to look out over our deck and see trees across the alley, now they are all cut down and a big house was built. Oh well, at least it was nice people that bought it. I think that dove knows where the beauty is...that's why he likes your garden area. A beautiful post Tammy!

Tammy.. you did a wonderful thing posting about this problem.. imagine if just one or two people stop littering after reading this? Imagine if they teach others to stop littering because of your words? Cutting trees down in your area was just plain stupidity.. you should call the government and tell them to plant new ones! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Well said Tammy. Sometimes it does take effort to see the beauty and not focus on the not-so- beautiful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hugs, Heather

Great attitude, Tammy!

Well said :-) It's so easy to focus on the negative but we need to shift our perspective and find the beauty in life. There is so much of it :-)

That would be very hard for me to look past all that, too...but I know you try so hard to keep a positive perspective and look for the beautiful views. I just commented on your previous post, too. Have a good day, Tammy - and please be careful out there in that heat!

Your perspective looks about right. Love the colours in your painting and the yarn.
Enjoy looking from your perspective.

Amen, sister!

Focusing on the bits of beauty around us - and sometimes they're very tiny - is definitely the right perspective. I am so grateful for my little camera as it helps me to do just that.

Have a wonderful end-of-week! :)

Dearest Tammy,
Sad that we ought to look away at times but maybe we're the ones that get hurt by such a sight and others didn't care, don't care and never will care...
Lovely pictures and hope you enjoy the little beauties around you!
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Tammy, You are right and I do the same. When I look down the hill of one side of our home, I see the highway but when I look up or in another direction, there are beautiful hills, olive trees, small vineyards and maybe Barney hopping through the grass and having fun :).
Hugs,
Julia

So very true. We sometimes are drawn to negative we see around us, but try to focus my vision on the beautiful and positive. Wishing you a beautiful day.

What a wonderful post and perspective. Life is all about choices and how to view our world is one of them.

So true, Tammy, and well illustrated in your post. I think often we tend to focus on the negative when we should really be looking for the positives.
I just read your previous post on the trash problem. What a shame to see a beautiful beach littered like that. I can't tolerate littering either. To me it seems like the epitome of laziness. Bravo to you for working to improve the situation. Hopefully someone was observing your actions and will learn from them. After reading this, I was reminded of a book I read about Gabby Giffords and all that she went through after being shot. I remember when she was finally able to come home from the hospital and take short walks she would take a bag with her to pick up trash in. I was very impressed by that, as I am by you.

Great post on perspective, Tammy! People littering is a major pet peeve of mine too. I feel for the native wildlife which can end up in strife, sometimes fatal outcomes, because of people being so careless.

Btw, I love your journal quotes! I follow them on Instagram. :)

beautiful thoughtful post. I'd have to plant something tall in a pot to block the middle view!!!!

When my children were young and would come to me complaining about something I would tell them not to complain but instead do something about their "complaint". As in life...if you don't like something....change it. It could be your attitude, your viewpoint or your view out your window. So many people want everyone else to change or for things to be different...I know I do! LOL! But I've also learned that it can be a form of guidance and direction and that action on my part has led me to some wonderful adventures and life experiences. So, yes...you can choose where and what you focus on and hopefully whatever it is will make you smile once again!
