Five on Friday: A Whole Lot of Leavin'

Five moments from the past week.
And a little added music bonus.

A friend is leaving after 12 years teaching in Kuwait so a few of us from the old group took her out for Indian food last Saturday.  Everyone else has already moved away so what was 10, is now down to 5.
On Wednesday, two of us met at Color Me Mine to paint some tiles for trivets that she can take with her as a reminder of our friendship and her time here.
I'm leaving my job (not Kuwait) after 7 years and was gifted with this beautiful necklace from co-workers.  It's my name in Arabic.  20 years here and I've never gotten one for myself so I especially love it and will always remember them fondly when I wear it.
Today, a friend and I took our boss and his wife out to breakfast.  They are also leaving Kuwait after 12 years.
It's a beautiful day, but very, very, very hot!  Today's high was 117 and at 5:30 p.m. it's 108 degrees.
Bon Jovi says it best.
There is definitely A Whole Lot of Leavin' going on.
Joining Amy at Love Made My Home for Five on Friday.

Have a good one!

Hi Tammy,
Found you from Preeti's blog. I can't believe that I have found a crafter/needle worker and an active blogger from Kuwait so late. I get from reading your post that you are leaving Kuwait too. I'm a new member of a small group " Kuwait Crafters" on ravelry and two wonderful ladies in the group are leaving too :( .
I'm amazed how you write about so many positives of Kuwait ,personally sometimes I want to run away from this country .
I was wondering would you be interested in joining World Wide Knit in Public day on 13th June?
I'm a no reply blogger so if you reply to this comment or write on my blog I would get the message.

Take care
Mini

You beat us for heat by a leap, though we've started our triple digits here in Tucson! What an adventure living in Kuwait must have been! Lovely get-togethers with friends and great gifts. Have a safe and wonderful trip!

It must be so sad for you to have so many friends leaving. I think it is great though that you have made and shared things to remember each other by, that is very kind indeed. I hope that whatever life brings for you next it will all be good. Thank you so much for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

Wow, that's hot! I love the tile you painted and the necklace your friends gave you! Why are so many people leaving? Just curious. We have had cool rainy weather and now the sun is back.. it will be in the 90s this weekend. Hot for us! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Sad to say "Good-Byes" for all those leaving Kuwait. Time spent with friends is precious and looks like you all made some great memories. Your necklace is very sweet and thoughtful. Do stay hydrated in your uber high heat. June JOY Dear...

Lots of change can be unsettling even when "it's all good"...I learned this from my goats ;)
Congratulations and best wishes for a smooth transition into more time spent in fulfilling adventures.
And my gosh, please stay hydrated!

I think after reading the other comments that either I or they are confused. :-). You are staying in Kuwait, correct? Just leaving your job? Think of all of the free time you'll have to play with yarn and everything else you love to do. Your new necklace is beautiful and the trivets are a sweet gift to remind your friend of her time spent there. Stay cool my friend!
Blessings,
Betsy

Hi Tammy,

Sometimes it is hard to say good bye to friends and work colleagues. You will miss work but will be lovely having more time for yourself. Love the necklace and how neat that it is a translation of your name.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend
Hugs
Carolyn

Love your necklace, they don't seem to do that kind of thing in Jordan which is a shame as it would be so cool to wear here in the UK.

Hope the weather cools a little bit for you soon!

It must be a bit sad to see so many of your friends moving on, but I must say you all know how to give a proper send off. The food looks delicious and the hand painted trivets are such a thoughtful gift. One that will, no doubt, evoke fond memories of your friendships.
The necklace that was given to you is really beautiful.
117? Yikes, that is some serious heat. Sure hope your A/C is working well for you.

As others have shared, goodbyes are always difficult. Love the beautiful necklace they got you!! :)

We're starting off our Saturday here with a sudden cold wind this morning at only 65 degrees. Much too cold for my liking for early June! Yesterday however it was hot and humid! I don't get it - all of the ups and downs with the temps here. I wish it would just get hot and stay hot night and day here as we have our own pool that we're anxious to use for the first time this season but the water temp keeps fluctuating because of these little cool downs.

Thinking about digging post holes today as we're building a pool deck.
Have a nice day!
Linda

Dear Tammy. I think it's always hard to say goodbye to dear friends and coworkers. (If they are NOT so dear, then negate that. ha haha) You are amazing to have lived in Kuwait for 20 years. The heat would have done me in by now. The Indian food looked delish. Susan

Dearest Tammy,
That is quite a melancholic post... but still happy moments are woven through.
Your necklace is very special and has a special meaning for you to cherish forever.
Leaving is never easy... like amputating yourself from others and from places you belonged for quite a while.
A tight embrace and blessings,
Mariette

What a lovely idea to paint tiles as a leaving gift, very thoughtful, as is your own gift. I agree with Mariette, you do seem melancholic, so I am sending a hug. x
