The Bane of My Existence

Yesterday I said I love weekends.
And I do.
Especially when I can go out with a friend and her daughter for breakfast.
This morning we went to Dean & Deluca.
Which meant besides breakfast, we also did a little shopping.
Love this place for specialty and gourmet items and don't get there often enough.
Now I've been twice in one weekend.
For breakfast we had coffee, spicy foul tagine with vegetables and pita bread, zatar and spinach fatayer and a fruit tray.
The pancakes and orange juice were for Renee, who will be 10 next month.
Our next stop was Ikea for storage containers.  Yesterday I bought bookshelves so I could organize my craft supplies.  I thought everything would have a space and fit nicely but it didn't work out that way.  Cleaning and organizing are the bane of my existence.
8 hours later and there's still stuff without a home and still much to do.
The good news is that I found several small cross-stitchings and frames that fit them perfectly so after I called it quits for the evening, I quickly put them together.

Wish I could twitch my nose like Samantha Stephens (Bewitched) and have everything neat and tidy and tucked away. :)
Hope your Saturday is/was a good one!

What a neat place for lunch! What else did you buy? I think you need one more Ikea shelf unit. :-) Enjoy the rest of your weekend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I feel your pain! but great breakfast shots and love shopping and planning. It's the pulling it together stuff that sucks.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

The breakfast looked wonderful........what a great photo! I'm eating pretzels at the moment and feel guilty!!!

Your craft shelves run-eth over! If you're anything like me, I start to organize and then get smoked off on something I find and the whole organization project gets sidetracked! I wish you well.....and you can come over and help me with my studio closet when you're done! HA

I have always been so jealous of Samantha Stevens, I would twitch my nose and my bathrooms would be clean. They are the bane of my existence, and we have hard water so just triple the work of cleaning a normal bathroom.
Hugs and I love your shelves.

Tammy you would think you lived in the US from the sounds of your breakfast and shopping! Except the food is probably not what you'd find at a D and L here. I wonder how your son is doing in college.

Your breakfast looked amazing! Breakfast for me is usually cold cereal with the excitement of a dollop of peach yogurt on top! I love bookshelves :) You have the same trouble as me ... just "that" much too much so that you can't fit it all in the new space. Frustrating. My husband just finished building me a new bookcase, and I think it's coming upstairs tomorrow!! Can't wait!! I used to watch Bewitched when I was young ... I thought Sam was such a cool name for a girl & she was just such a pretty witch with a cute nose trick (I actually named my daughter Sam, but without even thinking about this old show). I hope the rest of your weekend is just as good as today. Wendy x

Great minds think alike! I was cleaning and reorganizing today and I must say I made some progress for a change. I threw away lots of "garbage" and cleaned the guest room for Thanksgiving guests. Oh, and thank you so much for the faux ice cream recipe....I will be doing that for sure although once it gets cold my appetite for ice cream diminishes but not my sweet tooth. Ha! Ha!
I wish we had those stores here especially Ikea. You're doing great but don't feel bad...I had some piles left after I was done too. Thanks for your lovely post on my site...I sometimes wonder how people will take it...I don't want to sound like I'm giving a lecture by any means. I just like sharing knowledge with others. Enjoy your evening. TTYL!

Hi Tammy,

Yes, really does sound like a perfect day - breakfast out and shopping with friends.
I know what you are saying about organizing your supplies and things - my husband says that I could be on the hoarder show - he is only joking but it is amazing how much stuff you accumulate.

Hi Tammy...Sounds like an absolutely delightful time to me. Ohhhhhh, that fruit looked divine. Well, everything did.

I wish I could twitch my nose and be organized, too. Wouldn't that be great?

Take care and good luck organizing. I know what a bear it is. Susan

Storeage is a problem for me too - your two units are wonderful!!
How lucky are you having an Ikea store - we haven't got one in New Zealand.... (sad face here.....

Glad you enjoyed your weekend Tammy!

I always have more things than places to put them, too. My husband says I need less stuff, not more storage. I went through my yarn bin a few days ago and culled a lot of skeins to donate to the thrift store, so now the lid fits on the the yarn bin again. However, today I wandered into a new craft store, just to check it out, and--sigh--I bought two hanks of yarn. At least I have a specific project in mind for it!

Wish we had a Dean and Deluca by us...I drool over the magazine they send out.

You have a lot more to organize than me. Funny a lot of us are doing that just now on blogs. I only have a drawer for bags, ribbon, bubble wrap. My knitting stays in a bag I carry around.

Your breakfast did look delicious.

If you figure out to be like Samantha, let me know how you did it. There's a lot of things I could use that for. I think your shelves are shaping up nicely. Diane

Finding forgotten treasures is the very best part of cleaning and organizing. Breakfast and shopping with friends is a great way to enjoy your day off. I too have often wished I could twitch my nose just like Samantha! Creative Bliss...

Hi, Tammy! Looks you had a great weekend. We don't have such stores here, moreover IKEA, so no organizing shelves for me. Tough I need them urgently, I probably have the worst crafting supplies storage.
Yours looks artistic in a way, so don't worry :)Nice cross stitches!
Have a wonderful week ahead!

Hello Tammy you did well to achieve so much organising In the time! The little cross stitchings you found are cute, and make sweet little pictures in the handy frames!
Wishing you a happy week.

Shopping and breakfast with friends sounds wonderful. Organizing is wonderful but I too don't seem to find a place for everything. I'm sure it was fun to find the little cross stitch designs and the perfect little frames.
