Lately

Tuesday:   Zack had his first band concert of the year.
The freshman band is small but they played a song that is normally not accomplished until later in the year.  Their band director was quite pleased and it was a lovely performance.
Wednesday:  I spent several hours waiting to see my doctor who had a couple of deliveries in between patients.  I crocheted a washcloth within the first 30 minutes but must remember to take more supplies with me anytime there is a wait involved.
Thursday: I bought supplies for the shelter project.  Curtain rings are much cheaper than actual crochet rings.  And I got a bit of a discount on the cotton yarn since I bought so many skeins.
The wreath on the right is one I made last night with the larger white curtain ring.  Since the girls are from Ethiopia, language will be a slight barrier, but we will have a translator so I hope our crochet session goes well tomorrow.
And that bring us to today.
Friday:  Quiet time at home.
Crochet.  Blogging.  Relaxing.
Happy weekend wishes!

No idle fingers for you dear Tammy - love the discloth.
It's so good of you sharing your knowledge with less fortunate girls - I know they will love learning from you as much as you will enjoy teaching!

please give jingles a cuddle for me - I miss my old ginger cat Abbey (Road)!!!

Dearest Tammy,

Lovely photo of your two sons! Guess Zack is feeling proud for being able to perform something that advanced. Sure his Parents were proud.
Yeah, good thing for bringing crocheting material into a waiting room. You are well prepared for the shelter project, for teaching them how to crochet as lovely as you do.
Love the wreaths.
Did you buy the Schachemayer yarn in Cochem? To me it looks like... Enjoy your Chicago coffee and snack!
Hugs to you,
Mariette

What a perfect week! I am hoping to see my son playing a musical instrument, if not for a band, one day. He is 4 but he shows interest in music and picks up the tunes quickly.
Have a perfect weekend and then another perfect week!

Your crochet projects are looking wonderful. I like that you took your crocheting to the doctors office. I do that too. It is a really nice way to pass the time rather than spacing out or flipping through magazines that you don't give a flip about.
Congrats to your son and his bandmates on their performance. That says a lot for their dedications and their being able to work together as a group.
Have a great weekend!

Enjoyed the photos of Zack at his band concert. He seems like a really nice kid and reminds me of our freshman grandson moving along in their education and growing up.

Lovely washcloth and a lovely color! And, sweet crocheted wreaths!

Good luck with the crochet session, I'm sure it will be a very rewarding experience, for you as well for them! Love it that you do get in volved in such a project (I've always been volunteering a lot and I really think it teaches you a lot!).

Enjoy the rest of your quiet Friday!

Great photos of your son. Love those band concerts so much as you know.

Those wreaths are so adorable.

Not the weekend yet here but will be shortly.... Jim and I are taking Sarah and Anthony to the Circus tonight - a first for both of them even though they're nearly 17 and 18 years old. Not just for kids - they're excited! :)

Then it's the usual busy weekend here - tomorrow to the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana and Sunday an all-day Band competition. No rest involved... Enjoy your weekend.

I was in band, and nothing made me happier that to play in a concert for family & friends to hear. Yay for Zack & his band for taking on more difficult pieces!
Things are quieting down now that summer is over, and I definitely want to try crocheting again. I just need a how-to book and some yarn!
And Tammy - that comment you left over at my blog? What you shared is why I think of you as my friend. I am blessed to know you via blogging.
Big hugs,
Zuzu

Congrats to the talented musicians!

What would we do in waiting rooms without something to keep our hands busy? (Read less-than-worthy magazines I suspect.) :)

Crochet is an international language - I'm sure your sessions will go well.

Have a wonderful weekend.

That's the BEST photo of the boys! They are really good looking and when Zack smiles, he looks like a rock star!

Seems that your doctor is a busy woman....good you were prepared!

Have a lovely weekend. Ours is windy but warmer than last weeks! And we're going out for a fish fry dinner tonight. I'll have a cold one in your honor!

...and yummy food!!!! I always go to the frig after reading one of your posts T : )
I loved reading about the band concert. I miss those things! That was always my favorite thing. I am so lucky that my children loved music and learned to play an instrument. It is wonderful to hear that the performance was a huge success. Do you remember being in school and how our stomachs felt just before a performance? I doubt that anything has changed : )
I love your sweet wreaths Tammy!

I am so anxious to hear how your class goes. I miss those band and orchestra concerts. One of our boys was in the band and even played in the U of A band for one year. Our younger boy was in the orchestra until Senior year. It was such fun to go listen to them play and hear how the sounds improved each year.

What a full week you have had, and interesting. I like the proposed projects you will teach the women ... you will teach them a skill they can always make use of. Those OG GYN docs always seem to require a long wait. IF you have something to do or a book to read it sort of redeems the time spent waiting! Hope you're having a nice weekend. Some beautiful fall weather here today.

Congratulations! Wishing the best success to your son and his band!
I love that you enjoyed some crochet during waiting time - me too, always take yarn and hook/needles on my bag, just in case! Your little wreath is very cute, I must make some for Christmas, I still have a lot of plastic rings. Thanks for the idea! Also thank you for your lovely words on my blog!
Wishing you have a great weekend!
Best, LS
