Weekend Wrap-up

As the weekend has progressed, the dust has begun to clear.
And with each passing day, more and more of my moss roses begin to bloom.
There has been baking and crocheting going on.
And a chance to meet friends for coffee.  We even sat outside today despite the rising temperature.

Seeing a bit of blue sky is so much nicer than all the dust that has been with us for much of the month of May.
I do hope you are having a nice day in your corner of the world.

Oh, Tammy, so glad you are enjoying your weekend! Your roses are so pretty. I have some but they're not as big as yours...of course they're still in the greenhouse containers that might be why! LOL! I need to plant them!
It's very hot and dry here...heat warnings and fire danger warnings and with Memorial Day celebrations I hope everyone stays safe.
Love your crochet and those cookies look so yummy! I need to make some cookies as they are my favorite dessert with a cup of tea in the evening. I have some errands to run this morning but just here in town and although I have the windows open now I'm sure I will have to turn on the ac later but then I'll feel cozy and want to crochet! I finished the edging on the ripple so it is finally REALLY done and I can start a new project! I love that...what to choose? I think I need to order more yarn too...oh yes! Have a great rest of your weekend...wish I could have shared some coffee with you and your friends outside at that lovely cafe.

Lovely photos and so happy to hear you are able to enjoy the outdoors without all that dust. I adore your moss roses. My grandmother planted those all over her cracked driveway but didn't drive over them. Happy dust free days to you dear...

Your blue sky looks wonderful! We are pretty cloudy and have sprinkles but I don't mind, it gives me a chance to come in and see what everyone is up to. :) Kit

Your roses are such pretty shades of pink.
We had Sahara dust on the cars here in the south of England this morning. This often happens when the weather system comes from the south. Temps are in the high 20'sC not nearly as hot as you and we can't cope!!
Yummy cookies as usual.
Hugs, Angela.

Glad your skies are clearing.

Nothing but blue skies and heat here this long-Memorial-Day-weekend.... 100 degrees is perfect temps to be in the pool and that's what we've been doing every day here. The nice breeze in the evenings, even with hot temps, makes it nice for sitting on our patio and enjoying the yard. I'm not doing anything else - no blogging/writing, not much cooking at all.... it's summer and I'm taking a full break from it all.

Hope you have a nice week and a nice summer,
Linda

Tammy, I so loved the photograph you shared of your special place to be when there is so much dust in the air. It was just wonderful! I can picture you happily crocheting, eying collected dust that can wait one more day! Have a wonderful Memorial Day with your family. Elizabeth

Your top picture is just stunning. The coloring softens the moss rose and makes it extra lovely somehow. Happy day to you!

Your roses are so pretty!

Does the dust bother allergies? I hate to mow when it is dry and dusty. I water a section and then mow it... Ha

Hi Tammy- I'm sure no one appreciates blue sky more than you! The idea of a dust storm really scares me for some reason// guess you are used to them though!

You must feel so happy to see some clear skies! Coffee with friends...always nice! Your moss roses look lovely...it's a wonder with all the dust they've been dealing with.

Your crochet projects are always a delight, Tammy. I'm just about finished the granny stripe blanket throw I've been working on for what seems like forever. Now to decide if I want to add a border or not. lol

Love and hugs,

I'm so glad you are seeing some blue sky. Looking at the pavement cafe I'm surprised to see the tables don't have sun umbrellas over them. I'll bet they'd be appreciated if they were there!

Dearest Tammy,

Sorry for getting to your post this late but we reorganized our office today, so the PC was not in use for a while. Ah, and we ate your soup again! The favorite spicy corn and lentil soup recipe from you... Made even photos of it today, together with all our jasmines and gardenias that bloomed today. Even with the heavy rain we had twice. I had no option, tomorrow the blossoms would be gone.
Funny how others try to project things about gardening onto themselves. But the world is a bit bigger than the space most people have been confined to for the biggest time of their life. There is so much dessert area, even in India you find that and you have to be an awful lucky person to grow anything there. Smart does not even help you and with the best care, you will not grow successfully tender leaves. The Bahamas is also very cactus friendly, as most of the Caribbean. Forget certain things, you only can look at the photos and dream about it.
Here too, those lovely purple blue Campanula we brought home (despite the sign that they were indoor plants...) and they've already wilted. Way too hot here, several degrees hotter than in Atlanta where they were being sold at Trader Joe's. They were perfect but not for that long... just to bridge their sales period. No lack of love and tender care but due to lack of their optimum environment.
You know... Nevertheless we at times do enjoy our blooms, for us now is the time as in July and August most become 'brain-dead' hanging in there till fall, when they bounce back one more time.
Today I was pondering a lot about the fact that our English speaking, last driver, in Indonesia used to live in your country with his wife. He did go back after the Gulf war so he probably is staying there right now. He loved it there, due to the opportunities, not for the gardening.
Love to you,
Mariette

Blue skies look wonderful. I looked back at some of your dust pictures and my throat got scratchy, just thinking about the dust. Your little corner to retreat while the dust passes is perfect.
Your meeting with friends looks like fun.
Thanks for the visit to my blog. I am surprised there is a Payless Shoe store in your area. I went back yesterday and found a pair on sale that I had my eye on. Kept my "bling" ones too, though.

I guess I take these blue skies for granted, complaining about shifts in the temp etc.
Thanks for reminding me to enjoy it. I used to plant rose moss. I had forgotten how bright and pretty they are. I just may need to get some more of those. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy your blue sky!
