This and That and Tea

Today I'm joining Kimmie at Art in Red Wagons for Tea on Tuesday.   For the occasion, I made a blackberry cobbler and topped it with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream.  I know most folks wouldn't think of baking when temperatures are above 100 degrees, but I was craving a big bowl of something sweet.  The tea I had is one of my favorites - Twinings Organic African Honeybush & Lemon.
During the week, there is not a whole lot of crocheting going on with school and housework keeping me busy.  The balconies needed sweeping after all the dust storms and imagine my surprise when I looked up to find this guy sitting right on the fence just a foot away from me.  He didn't fly away when I got close.  I talked to him and he would just sit there and listen.  Later on, he moved to the end of the balcony and settled into one of my plants.  I gave him water and bread and banned Jingles from going outside.
He was gone the next morning.  I don't know what was wrong, but guess he was able to sleep it off.
I took the moon picture above on Saturday night and the one below this evening.  On Monday, June 4th, the Full Strawberry Moon will be visible.
Hard to believe that yet another month is nearly over.  My oldest son has exams this week and then will be finished with his junior year of high school.  My 8th grader will finish up on the 4th.  Another school year just about over.

It's almost 10 o'clock pm and sleep is sounding pretty good to me right about now.  I'll stop by tomorrow to visit all the other tea party participants.  Hope you are having a terrific Tuesday.

The cobbler looks delicious. Poor little bird - maybe the dust was getting to him. I'm sure he felt better when you gave him the water. Enjoy your week. :)

Your cobbler is delicious looking and I would have baked also. Sweet little bird to need you caring for him. You allowed him to rest and refuel and then travel on. Great rest of the week my dear...

that tea sounds delicious and glad the dust has settled... we are in exam block here in Australia as well, but only for half year exams as we run Jan to December school year... my daughter is a bit jealous that junior year is almost done, she has six more months...have a great week xx

Dearest Tammy,
Glad that you got blackberries in your area and they are the perfect match with vanilla ice cream. That's just my taste.
Poor bird looks like being sick, the head part is not looking too well. Hope it literally 'fluffed' back!
Love to you,
Mariette

poor little bird - he looks like he had dust in his eyes :(
a little R&R on your balcony must be just what he needed!

You have some amazing shots of the moon - I don't know anything about the "strawberry moon," but our first strawberries are beginning to ripen right now :)

Happy Tuesday Tammy!

Oh boy, hard to beat cobbler with ice cream. Glad the dust has settled for awhile. We have calm mornings, but very windy afternoons. Hot, humid, mid 90's or higher by afternoon. Seeking shade when outside and so are our birds. They love out bird bath, and sometimes completely dunk themselves under water. It's entertaining to watch. Your tea sounds wonderful. Yep, how time flies. Keep enjoying those little things.

Hi Tammy: It was, indeed, a good Tuesday. Loved your moon shots as well as the one of the little visiting birdie. So sweet. Thanks for sharing. Do you buy fresh blackberries for your cobbler? Do they have farmers markets in Kuwait? Susan

That's what I need to do with those blackberries in the 'frig, make a delicious cobbler. Pouring with rain today, a great day to stay in and bake something yummy!

Hope the bird made it - perhaps he was just tired from flying in the dust!

I love fruit cobblers and blackberries are my favourite fruit!
Your poor little bird, maybe he hit something and got a bit of concussion, peace and water was probably the best medicine :)
I missed tea yesterday but then any day is good for tea :)

He looks young, maybe all that dust just got to him.. Glad you could help him out. I'll have to try that tea...sounds good. I've not been crocheting either, loads and loads of yard work has kept me busy! Have a great rest of the week.

Sweet Mourning Dove, I love those in my yard. :)

It seems like it was just yesterday that I posted a photo of the Strawberry Moon on my fb page and now I realize it's been a year since the last one. I've been watching the moon grow this past week and it's neat that you captured it. No pictures of it from me. I haven't been doing much of anything other than being lazy in our pool, though Jim and I have enjoyed some wonderful bike rides.

Strawberries are plentiful in my garden now - I eat them right off the plants.

Hope you enjoy a good remainder of the week. School is long ago memory now for us here - this being 2 weeks off now.

Yum! I turn the oven on, no problem when my sweet tooth is calling! That looks so good!
Sweet bird but he/she does look a little "frazzled"...probably the dust. YOu moon pictures are always SO beautiful. I've tried and can't get any. It just looks like a dot in the sky. Do you have a zoom lens?
I am so tired and I don't know why. I yawn all day and today I'm just dragging. It rained and it's cooler but now it's humid. I want to take a nap! I started crocheting my granny stripe but noticed I'd been doing the edges wrong and it looked terrible. It needs to be redone but I think maybe I'll walk away from it for now and work on my wool applique. Sometimes, after I finish a big project I might need to do something else instead of crochet for a bit. I think that's why I goofed...I think I still had the ripple pattern in my brain! LOL! TTYL!

Berry cobblers are
my most favorite kind
and yours sounds yummy!

My daughter will finish
her junior year next week
and my son will wrap up
7th grade, so we are almost
on the same track in our
households : )

Does your son have any
college plans? My daughter
has hers narrowed down and
will begin the application
process in the fall. Have to
pinch myself to believe it!

Hope you got your rest....

PS: Love the sound of
that tea!

Yum! Blackberry Cobbler is one of my favorite desserts! My other favorite cobbler is sweet potato. Have you ever tried that? It might just be an Alabama dish. :) I think lemon tea would be the perfect drink to go with it too.

I love the picture of the sweet bird. Poor little fellow looks so upset. So glad you where there to help him out. Bless you. :)

Hope things slow down a bit for you so you can get back to crocheting again.

Tammy, I would have risked heating up the house even more to have some of that cobbler! Funny thing, yesterday my friend gave an afternoon tea party combined with a crochet lesson, and then today I find your post about tea and crocheting!
