So Much for Dusting

A day in May found on my Atlantic Canada calendar.  Apple blossoms in Canning, Nova Scotia.  I wish our day looked like this.
Instead we got this.  A major dust storm rolled in just after 2:00 pm.
You can't see it in the pictures, but there was actually an orange glow out there.  So much for all the cleaning I did over the past several days.

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better,
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Today I made banana and coconut bread.  I used three small tins rather than one large one.  It turned out great, very moist but I think next time I would definitely put half the sugar.

Hope the weather is better where you are!

I would dread looking at the weather report in the morning if dust was a probability!

dusting is my most hated chore .... fortunately for us, the sun rarely shines, so the dust is not very visible :)

... and when the sun does shine, we all go outside anyhow ....

your banana and coconut bread looks delicious! I find that most things need less sugar than they call for ... and if the family wants to, they can always drizzle honey on their slice :)

That's a lot of dust!

Hope it clears soon and leaves behind a lovely blue sky and sunshine, too.

Blessings always

Dear Tammy, maybe it's a consolation for you: Here in Austria it didn't look as nice as on the calendar, too. Today we had rain and strong winds during the past few days ... But I can imagine that this everlasting sandstorms are tugging on the nerves ... Then it's a good idea to bake a banana and coconut bread...!
Big hugs, Traude

Oh, I am so sorry for you because of the nasty dust! It can really bring you down!
As for the banana bread - it looks yummy - I have been collecting bread making recipes for a while but haven't willed myself to make the banana one. I am still not letting go of the French bread :)

I am fascinated by your dust storms... I guess that is because I don't have to deal with them. I suppose dust gets into your home even with the doors and windows closed tight.

Yummy sounding bread. I love the addition of coconut!

Wow, yes that's some dust alright! We don't get that here, as we are near water. We always have wind and sometimes we get smoke from the controlled fires in Mexico or the King Ranch. I love your banana bread. I was thinking of making a carrot cake tonight. Enjoy the day...inside! :)

American Idol is on tonight so be sure to watch it. Do you get So You Think You Can Dance? That is starting here on Thursday, same channel as American Idol and I have to say this is my very favorite show of all time. Give it a try if you get it you will be amazed at what these young people can do.

Meredith

Got to comment about PF Changs. It is about my favorite restaurant in the city. So bad about your dust storm season. No wonder dusting is such a chore. Love your new wall hanging and your music.

Good grief, I shouldn't complain about the rain showers we've been getting!
And, I don't really :) everything is so very green. It's mild but we have been getting about 4 showers/day.
Your loaves look yummy and probably go great with tea...or just about anything :)

Wow, it would take
a very strong spirit
to face a day of dust
storms! But, I am
absolutely certain that
YOU are blooming
where you are planted,
Tammy!

the only up side of two extremely wet years is that we have been spared dust storms... when we get them they come from the outback and cover everything in a dark red dust... it is a nightmare, so you have my sympathies... hope it clears away soon...xx

yikes! dusting is one of my least favorite things...
Our weather is good enough that we are outdoors working on the yard.
Have a great day!

Nova Scotia is where my husband was born. :) That's a pretty calendar picture, though I cannot imagine Apple blossoms in May since here they occur by early April at the latest.

Sorry for your dust storm. They do certainly seem to be a frequent occurrence there. :(

Here it was a clear sunny day, pretty much like most of our days I guess. This is normally a very good weather time of the year, except for the occasional severe storm, but even those thankfully have been infrequent.

Oh that darned dust and just after you did such a complete job of dusting everything inside. Baking and eating some warm yummy bread is just the soothing element. Hope your skies clear...

Dearest Tammy,

My heart aches for you... DUST and you are so craving for some blossoms and green. It makes you feel like and idiot after having cleaned and all in vain but what can you do? Put your brain on zero and inhale deep, bake a cake and go on.
Funny that both of us do show 407 followers right now. You are 'beating the dust' a little longer than I do but nevertheless. You are great at keeping up with this blog!
Love to you,
Mariette

PS Yes, the auto immune disease is like a sword of damocles in many ways. Hope your best friend's son is going to do well, without set-backs.

It's such a depressing weather. Looks like we'll be busy dusting this weekend. I miss the rain..

That is crazy weather you are having Tammy! And yes, I think baking or painting or ANYTHING would be better than spending your time dusting. Especially in a dust storm like that ~ yuck!

Hope that wind is settling down for you.

I'm thinking the only good thing is that everyone else has dust too......so no excuses required if company stops by, their homes are having the same problems!

Hope it leaves soon and you have pretty days to sit out and nibble those yummy cakes!

Hugs from green and pretty North Carolina

Nova Scotia is on my list of places I would love to visit... it looks very beautiful in the photo you shared. Your dust storms always remind me of springtime in West Texas. You could come home to a quarter of an inch of red dirt in your home if you left your windows open. I shudder to remember! blessings ~ Tanna

I don't know how you get used to the dust! My hosue is always dusty, and it makes me crazy. We have a woodstove, which leaves fine ashes everywhere! That, and the animals... ugh.

Mine is wet and cool today, I have a fleece on!

The bread looks wonderful! But that dust is freaking me out ---- I think I'd have nightmares about those storms!!
