While She Lay Sleeping

Who among us hasn't envied a cat's ability to ignore the cares of daily life and to relax completely? (Karen Brademeyer)
While I was moving, sorting, purging, organizing, cleaning, climbing, painting the kids room, Jingles was fast asleep.  I don't know how anyone could sleep amongst this chaos.
After working 10 hours yesterday and several hours this afternoon (once the new furniture was delivered and put together), I can say that I am about 80% finished with the room.  This corner went from this ...
to this.
There's still work to do.  My oldest son doesn't want anything hung up.  He says I put too many things on all our walls.
Dining area
tv room
Yep ... guilty as charged.   To me, every wall is a blank canvas just waiting to be filled with photos, travel mementos and handiwork.

Why do we love certain houses, and why do they seem to love us?  It is the warmth of our individual hearts reflected in our surroundings.  (T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings)

I may not have a clean house, but it sure is cozy!  What does your home say about you?

Dearest Tammy,

Strange that your oldest son has that idea about walls... The canvas of your dining area is LOVELY. Very warm and it speaks volume about your heart. Ask your son why he gets dressed in the morning, maybe that will get him thinking different.
Wishing you a happy Birthday tomorrow for your husband! You probably will have finished this major task by than. So let's celebrate.
Love to you,

Mariette

I love all your pictures, stitch-work and mementos on your walls. All those things are what make a house a home. He'll learn that in time. Have fun with the organization!

Mine says I love flowers--fresh, dried, artificial, in pictures, in cross stitch, on the floor... :) but I do feel comfortable in my slight clutter!
Your son's room looks nice, but I completely understand your passion for hanging things on the walls :)
Happy new year, Tammy!

My home says that there is a couple of senior citizens who live here & they have a lot of family heirlooms!! Now sometimes that is good & sometimes not & sometimes it all gets packed in a closet!!

My home says neat and tidy. At least on the appearance side. ;)

I get very anxious around any clutter so I need to have nearly blank walls, etc. I have a few choice pieces hung, but I do not like family photos out in general, or too much of anything on display. Still, like you, I like my house as it is. Comfy and cozy.

While you've been working, I've been relaxing and blogging A LOT over the past many days.

For me, it's back to the paid job tomorrow, even though it will be a short day. A sad start to the new year here at our house, with Sarah's Grandpa (her Dad's Dad), in bad condition, after battling Pancreatic Cancer for the past year. She's leaving Friday morning with her Dad for a trip to Arkansas and has been asked to bring nice clothes with. Never a good sign. :(

My word being 'accomplish' this year, finds me drinking tea and visiting my online friends :)
Soup is simmering, so all is not lost today!
I love how our homes reflect us, I love my home so I think that's why people find it so friendly :)

Great metamorphasis of your son's room. I love the warmth and coziness of your home. I've never had qualms about hanging things on the wall - except when my husband's around. He can't STAND to hammer nails into the wall. So I do it when he isn't around.

I think my home says that two completely different people live here. But it is warm and inviting I hope. Diane

Whew, Tammy! That's a lot of hard work! You are making great progress. I'm impressed at how Jingles was content to doze while you worked away! LOL! Once again, you've got me on the quote. Love it! Not sure what mine says about me right now... a little bit of a mess (and that would be appropriate!). blessings ~ tanna

Hi Tammy....Nice job on the room reorganization.

Jingles is like my Honey Cat....could sleep even if a steam engine rumbled through the living room.

What does my home say about me? Hmmmmm. Well, it definitely says I love old-fasioned over modern. It says I have many collections including pink cranberry glass, dolls, dollhouse miniatures, books, and crystal! Ha!

It's got a lot of stuff but I TRY to keep the collections displayed nicely. (Just don't go into drawers and closets. ha haha)

Take care, Tammy. Susan

Your dedication has paid off with a wonderful new look for the room. I applaud your son for speaking up about his walls. I really like your walls of interesting personal momentos however if he wants walls void of things then so be it. Great beginning to this fresh new year...

I often think the same when I look at the cats, they just come in drop down and curl up.

Your messy room looks just like my Grandsons room, he has just gone back to Uni (he lives with us when not there )
I tend not to look at it while he is here, although I have to pass it to get to my workroom and I really don't know how he manages to even get to the bed. lol
goodness knows what his London flat looks like, still I don't have to deal with that....

What's the point of having a big ol' blank wall? Your stuff is much more interesting to look at.

Up, that about sums up a cat!

Have a happy week Tammy!

I love your walls!

My walls say that my husband like to hunt....if you know what I mean! I've told him "no more". Enough is enough.

I think you have an awesome home, Tammy, with all the decorative touches you add. I like to hang things on walls too although, with it being a rented house, I have to limit myself. The black and red in your sons' room looks great!
