I've made this cake many times in the past. So easy and always turns out perfect.
Melt 1 stick of butter. Drizzle about 1 TBS of the melted butter in a small loaf pan, sprinkle in some brown sugar, then layer sliced pears. Mix together the rest of the melted butter with 4 TBS of brown sugar, 6 TBS of flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 2 tsp of powdered ginger and 1 egg. Pour your batter over the sliced pears. Bake in 350 degree oven until golden. Yum!
Uh oh! I just saw lightning and the wind is howling. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Freezing cold, gloomy and miserable here in Somerset.
Just the day to be sat by the Aga stitching.
Your cake looks delicious!!

Partly sunny and 60 degrees here today for the last day of January. Looks like normal "wintry temps" will be back in the forecast here by the weekend.
You always seem to have some sort of baked-good. I've been baking a little bit more but still not too often.
By the way, I've enabled comments on my new blog because one of my daughters wanted to comment but couldn't. So, I'm pretty much back to where I was, though my format will remain slightly different.
Hope you're having a good middle of the week,
Linda
Happy T Day to you, thank you for visiting!! I love the look of that upside pear cake, the recipe is a bonus... now to find some pears... are they real pears or tinned ones?
It's howling here in Jeddah too! We have quite a sandstorm going on! You're right. Perfect tea weather. That cake looks delicious!
Happy Tea Tuesday. Gotta love the pear cake. Of course, I love anything that starts with butter. I notice in many of your recipes that you like butter as much as I! This really looks festive. Hope the storm passes quickly.
cold and rainy here in washington state - a good day for pear upside down cake! that looks so yummy :)
enjoy your day, enjoy your tea!
xoxo
Hi Tammy! Just love that music on your blog.
The pear cake looks great but I think I'd want to eat the whole thing.
Gorgeous day here in New England...cold and nice and bright sun! Great for the last day of January. Nobody can tell me there is no such thing as global warming. Susan
60s here in the Windy City. Crazy, as last year it was that blizzard. Off to head outside for a walk. But, I'm sure a cup of tea will follow.... Glad to see you are doing well and what a pleasure to pop by.
I'm coming over :) your tea and cake looks wonderful!
Have a great day, the sun is shining here today and is fairly mild--not enough to melt the snow yet tho...
Your pairing of the tea and the cake sounds perfects! and thanks for sharing that o so easy sounding recipe. It's a must make for me now.
Happy T on T

Hope your rest of the week is wonderful! xo
Yummmmmmmy -- your tea and cake look so good. I hope you are keeping cozy and comfortable even with the howling wind and lightning. Sunshine here --- a great day for a walk. I hope your day was a good one!
WE have actually had a bit of rain off and on lately. Not much, but we'll take it. Love the pear cake you make, sounds so good and great to have it with tea. Have a happy tea day and don't forget to savor all of it.
Hi Tammy,
Do hope the weather is better there.
Such a nice way to spend the day drinking hot tea and eating cake.
Enjoy the week
Hugs
Carolyn
A perfect day for tea and cake. YUMMY!
Hi Tammy -
Thanks for the message. I'm glad my comments are sent to my email, otherwise, who knows how long before I would have seen your comment. Anyway, things are busy here with the kids, and when they nap I'm either cleaning or doing laundry. Hopefully I can post a new blog soon. The food you've been making in your last couple posts looks excellent. FedEx some of that cake up my way !!! :)

Hi Tammy,
The weather here has been warm for winter and the plants are very confused.
I love to bake but don't do much. I eat it all by myself and don't know when to stop!
You always inspire me though. Enjoy your cool weather while you have it. It wasn't long ago that you were baking - no pun intended :)
Oh, YUM!! That upside down pear cake looks so very good!! I'm sure it was perfect with tea while the winds blew and storms brewed!
Yes, I am knitting with beads. The mystery KAL only gives a clue every few days and you do that and wait for the next clue... not sure what it will be yet! LOL! This is my first experience with beads. I still have some catching up to do. blessings ~ tanna
We hit 59 degrees here in Missouri, which is unheard of. The kids even went to school in shorts! I think their internal thermometers are off!
Your Pear cake sounds delish! I'll have to give it a try.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
Is that slice for me Tammy?!
May I have my tea without milk or sugar too please!
That cake looks great - just what I love - no fuss and easy peasy - I'll try and make it at the weekend - thankyou for sharing!
hugs

You can send some cold weather my way if you like! It has rained so much here in Queensland, Australia and now it is terribly hot and steamy. I would love some tea and cake weather :-) .
That cake looks so moist and yummy, I bet it didn't last long!
Have a great day,
Michelle.
That sounds yummy! Hope everything is good with you and your family. Would you believe I just now read your comment on my blog from December! Shame shame on me. Trying to catch up now though.
Hi Tammy, how nice that cake looks! looks so delicious! perfect combination for today! Greetings, Rose Marie
The cake is sooo tempting! I love upside-down-cake. But I obly made it with pineapple. I think it´s a geunuin american cake. Maybe I should make one soon again. It was years ago now... Have a great evening!
Umm, your peach bread sounds tasty! I love lemony tea too.
Hi Tammy- such a pretty little cake- perfect for afternoon break! Thanks for the recipe,
