Home Sweet Home

So how did you ring in the new year?  We were safe and sound at home.  Mona and her family came over for dinner and dessert.  Hubby was in bed early while I managed to stay up past the stroke of midnight for once.
This bilingual 2012 Atlantic Canada calendar was a gift from my boss and his wife.

Remember all the beautiful blue skies we had last week. Well, this first day of the new year has gotten off to a cloudy, blustery start.
The sun is back there somewhere

While I am up early, the rest of the house is sleeping.  Work in the kids bedroom will have to wait until they arise from slumber.
When Mona came to our place last week, she saw this pillow that I had crocheted last year (I can say "last year" with confidence since I have no idea exactly when I made it, but definitely was in 2011).
She requested that I make one for her in colors of maroon and blue.
Ask and ye shall receive.

Home is the heart of life ... Home is where we feel at ease, where we belong, we can create surroundings that reflect our tastes and pleasures ... Making a home is a form of creativity open to everyone. (Terence Conran)

May your home be filled with peace and joy; your life filled with the love of family and friends; and your heart filled to overflowing with gratitude and thanksgiving.

Thanks once again for a lovely comment on the last post Tammy.
The one thing about blogging that I like is that I am in touch with people from all parts of the world that I would otherwise never know.
May you and your family find peace and contentment in the new year.

The calendar is beautiful...handy being bilingual too. It sounds like you had a nice New Year's Eve...I also greeted the new year (much earlier than you did, of course, with the time zone thing) and I stayed up until 2AM.

I remember your Home Sweet Home pillow. How sweet that you made one for Mona too. I'm sure she will treasure it. Good luck with refurbishing the boys' rooms. I love the way you have your home decorated...so welcoming and comfy-looking.

Have a great day!

Love,

Happy New Year Tammy! I have been so lax in my commenting these past few months- so sorry but wanted to come by and say wishes for the new year!

Your pillow is darling! I started crocheting little flapeared baby hats - crocheting is addicting! I have made probably 15 or so now!

Happy 2012 to you Tammy!
We spent the evening at a friends house for dinner...so much good food and the company was even better! My kids were out with friends and at the stroke of midnite texted each other our good wishes and love! Life is good!

If memory serves me right Tammy, I think your blog banner was the reason I even attempted making crocheted hearts in the first place. You had a cute photo that inspired me....!

Thanks for stopping by!

NYE was quiet here too, and yesterday was filled with family and friends. We went to breakfast with the boys, met up with girlfriends at the pool while the kids swam, had a quick but nice run with my husband, and then followed it up with a 3K walk with hubby.
One last day of organizing and errands before I become a working woman tomorrow. Is it funny to say I am a bit nervous??

Hope your organizing day is going well!!!

xoxo

Hi Tammy! Well, I made an early seafood dinner for 4 guests and my husband----steamed clams and crab lets with drawn butter, shrimp with cocktail sauce, and a big salad with teriyaki dressing.

Then, when everyone left, I watched a movie on tv and switched it to the New York celebration at midnight.

Bye bye 2011 and hello 2012. Hope it's a good one for both of us, Tammy! And for all our families. Susan

You're playing one of my all-time favorite songs (Auld Lang Syne). I love it.

I can never get over the fact that some can't stay up until Midnight, hee hee -- we do that all the time at our house, so New Year's Eve is no big deal. Weekends, Sarah is normally up most of the night into the wee hours of the morning, and Jim and I easily stay up well past Midnight often. Guess it just goes to show how we're all wired quite differently. ;)

Our New Year's Eve was wonderful. I didn't post photos on the blog of that exact night. My blog is going to take a different turn in the New Years, with more general writing and less personal information due to some unfortunate instances of late. Anyway - we celebrated well past Midnight with Sarah and her friend Ashlee and Anthony stopped over around 12:15 a.m. and stayed until around 2:00.

We are off today and tomorrow and then it's back to normal. Jim and I worked really hard at packing up all of the many Christmas decorations (indoors and out) yesterday and the house looks completely bare, as I normally prefer it.

Happy New Year.
With many blessings,
Linda

Happy New Year, Tammy! I actually crocheted a dish cloth for my sister. It's been ages since I've crocheted anything and always think of you when I see pretty patterns.

I got my master bathroom painted today so I'm off to what I hope is a productive year at home. It's been nice having a few days off from this job but it's back to the grindstone tomorrow.

I hope you have a nice week :)

Hi Tammy! I really enjoy looking at photos of your home. It sure is cozy! And I love the way you display things on your walls. I´m like you: I may not have the cleanest house in village but it sure is personal and cozy. And I love my home :)

The Indian food in one of your new blogposts sounds and looks so delicious. Yummie!

Now continuing the tour on your "new" blog for the new year. :)

Have a great day!
Blessings!
