Meander with Me

Last nite at midnite the moon was magnificent with a shadowy appearance.

Alas, my handy dandy Sony doesn't have very good zoom. And as my husband said "it's just too far away." Ha!

The wind was also whipping up like crazy at that time ...

but things are calm today. Still no blue skies.

I've been up since 6:50 am. Love the stillness of the house at this time. Not your typical breakfast, but this was what I was introduced to when I came to Kuwait -- lebaneh on toast with a sprinkle of zaatar, stuffed olives and cucumbers. Delicious!

All the fruit that arrived from Sri Lanka is gone. What we didn't eat ourselves, was shared with friends. Yesterday I did make guacamole from the "butter fruit".

And I planted a pineapple head just to see if it takes.

Peaches are ripe and delicious.

We had blackberry cobbler last nite and I am thinking peach cobbler is up next.

Jingles is my helper in all things yarn-related as I crochet the night away. Still doing a little cross-stitching too.

Simple stitches and sweet sentiment equals a perfect little gift. Will be stitching more of these with different flower patterns.

Wishing you all a fabulous Friday! Peace & blessings, Tammy

Life seems so different for you... I could do the cucumber and olive thing.... Tiana... the little girl fighting cancer is not going to make it and she isn't doing well with her chemo this time... it is heartbreaking for the family but they are soldiers..... Tom's daughter and husband will match the 206.00 and most likey talking of buying a gas card... They have to drive to be with her and the debt will be with them for the rest of their lives... Wishes sent your way for a wonderful and blessed weekend....

Tammy, I absolutely love Jingles. Such an adorable kitty. Loved your moon photo and wind-whipping-the-trees shot, too. Nice job. Have a great day today! Susan

Hi Tammy,
I LOVE the look of your breakfast - that looks yummy. I don't do "normal" breakfast foods - for the past couple of years, I eat my lunch foods at breakfast and don't eat lunch (I walk then), so this totally appeals to me. I especially love olives.
Hope you're settling back in. We are in our annual adjustment period to the new school year and thus far, it's going okay.
Love, Linda

Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. Tammy. I was so pleased to hear from you! I think I could eat that breakfast, too. I have never liked American breakfast!I just received a basket like the one in the right hand corner and wonder if it if from Kuwait. It matched the colors of my bead room beautifully!
Fondly,
Suz

Finally got here without a glitch today. Glad to see one of us has been creatively productive. I've been wanting to work on my diaper cake but need big rubber bands which I havent found yet.
Your cobbler looks yummy. I cheated and bought a Mrs. Smith's blueberry pie. I've been craving that all summer. Today I am making fettucine alfredo for the 2nd time on request...came out really good the first time. That's about as creative as I'm getting today. Feel a bit tired today.

Peace and Blessings back at ya!

I can't imagine the life style change you went through when you moved to Kwait & I so respect you for learning the culture. Not many could do it! You are a remarkable woman & I am so happy to count you as a friend!!
Have a Great Weekend!

I bet your pineapple will grow nicely. When we lived in Illinois (eons ago) I planted a couple and they were huge by the time we moved. It'll be fun to see how big yours get!

Jingles is SUCH a helper, isn't he?

Lovely photos of great food...interesting breakfast items. Who knew? It seems like a light and fresh thing to start the day.

Many hugs,
Jan

That wind looks like monsoon wind! Kuwait sounds hotter than Phoenix WITH humidity? That's got to be rough. Is Guacamole from the butter fruit good? A different taste?? OK I'll stop asking questions.:) I'm glad you found me, I'm really going to enjoy reading your blog!

Hi Tammy, Is fruit a rare thing where you are? Is zaatar a spice? I have never heard of it before. It is such a sweet thing for me to visit your blog because it is like coming "home" for me. Your header this month speaks to my own childhood. The colors of the earth, rich and warm copper, carved wood, and the ever present camel footstool! Always fun! Have a lovely weekend! Elizabeth

Thanks for the evening stroll Tammy. Your food looks wonderful, I'm trying to find some good peaches around here.
Cats and yarn just go together. One day I came home from work and found that my two siamese cats(at the time) had spent the entire morning rolling the ball of yarn around, or carrying it, all over the house, between the table legs, into the bathroom, back into the living room. It was a real mess - but funny!

Looks like you are settling back in just fine... So, what do you miss most already...a McKey-De's? Blue Skies of Michigan? Yarn shops in every town? Walking down the street in town and hearing English?

Okay, you win...you have the hottest summers ever...120 degrees? Insane. It gets that hot in Phoenix every few years but only for a day or two...anything over 105 is too hot for me anyway! Glad you made it back to the states for a visit and got to do some fun crafting. Hope the wind stops and you have blue skies soon.

What a delicious breakfast!! Except for the olives (I tried them once and didn't like them at all) all looks lovely. What is Lebaneh made of? Looks like cream cheese.
Have a lovely weekend!!

Hi Tammy,
I just got your message on my Whimsical Musings blog...so happy to see you there too! I couldn't believe you used to live in Slidell! Wow!

I am in Meraux in St. Bernard Parish and I write for the Times Picayune newspaper..
I was wondering, how did you end up in Kuwait? Are you in the service?
I love your song on here too and your photos..wow!

It's so interesting to see different foods and cultures..are you ever afraid being there? Are the people friendly to you? Do the children smile and have fun? These may seem like odd questions, but I am rather ignorant about the country and not afraid to admit it so I can learn more :-)
Have a great week-end and by the way..I love cooking with green olives ;-D

Oh dear Terry I am so pleased you found me. I am doing great. Painting, making baskets and crocheting for Christmas gifts. I am working on finding my previous addies. I can remember the people, some of the name, but the exact addies I just have to wait. Bless you for seeing my comment and coming to visit. This is going to be a great school year for sure. Love that type of breakfast.
