Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Today we went to Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids MI with Aunt Elaine and Gwen.

There's a special exhibit running from April 30 through September 30 by Dale Chihuly who is a glass blowing artist. Below are some images from our tour of the gardens and the amazing sculptures by Chihuly.

It was a very overcast and humid day and we did lots of walking.

We had a nice lunch in the cafe where more glass sculptures were to be found overhead.

I took tons of pictures but think it is time to call it a day. Hope you've had a wonderful Wednesday. Peace & Blessings, Tammy

The only time I ever saw Dale Chihuly's glass was in Mayo Clinic with my daughter. 4 or 5 huge glass fantasy chandeliers hang in a spacious atrium. I was never the same somehow, his glass just touched me. This must have been a beautiful place to go. I wish I could have been a little mouse in your pocket. Diane

Chihuly is amazing and you got to see his work up close and personal. My favorite (if there is such a thing) is the boat....very soothing. Sure wish he'd have a display in Colorado. I'd SO go and see it.
Beautiful gardens and beautiful plants. The terra cotta wall of succulents is so pretty, too. Wouldn't it be fun to have all those lovely plants in our homes?
Great music today. Daughtry is wonderful and I'm hanging out here writing things so I can hear the whole song. :)
And you are going home. Safe travels..........

Enjoy the greenery baby. Enjoy the last few days to the fullest. I really liked the shots of the sculptures. You should have them framed. Good to get your walking in. Haven't done much of it since being back. I have been out to the Avenues a few times to stretch my legs and done some organizing (nesting) around here. Other than that, I've been pretty sedate. At least the weather has been pretty cooperative. Sorry to depress you with my ramblings. Thanks for all the color and beautifulness of your adventure.

HI Tammy,

What wonderful displays of art. Looks like another fabulous time (even if it was humid!). We had a Chihuly exhibit here in San Francisco last year although I did not attend. You have certainly had a great trip!
Sharon :-)
