Thankful Thursday!

Wow! Another weekend is upon us. I had a White Wednesday post planned for yesterday but our wireless connection was having issues. Thankfully, the problem has been remedied for today.

Since dust is predicted for our entire weekend, I thought I would share the beautiful quilts we saw at last week's show put on by the Kuwait Textile Arts Association. These wall quilts were some of my favorite. The detail on them is just amazing.

This one received many ribbons and was very unique.

I'm always drawn to hearts.

On Tuesday I mentioned my friend Kathy and the honorable mention she received for her Sadu weaving, which is a traditional method of weaving using a loom. She took a class, made several pieces and entered this one.

She named the piece Sadu Cholla. The wood that it hangs from is the skeleton of a cactus that grows in New Mexico. She packed it in her suitcase when she was there in April and brought it back to Kuwait. Indians in NM use this wood to make many decorative items, such as crosses, for the home.

Aren't the traditional colors of Sadu weaving just gorgeous!! Hope you are having a joyful, colorful day in your corner of the world! Peace & blessings, Tammy

As a quilter, I was so happy to see your post. WOW, they are all so beautiful and what a group of talented women you have there. I especially like the abastact feel of the one that won those awards....it's simple but makes a statement! And the weaving! Wow, that's something I have never attempted. Have you? Brilliant using the wood in the piece, too! What a nice community of artists you are involved in ~ lucky you!
I wish you a dust free weekend!
Hugs,
Jan

I don't know how you keep upbeat with all the dust. I get seriously depressed when we have a week of cloudy days. We had one beautiful day of sunshine this week, and now we're back to rain and I'm not dealing with it well. I'm longing for hot weather and sunshine so we can get into our pool.

Anyway - the quilts are gorgeous. :)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, despite the dust.

Blessings always,
Linda

How fun for you to attend a quilt show. I love and appreciate the beauty and the work that goes into a quilt...I do not sew at all! Love the heart one too!

Thanks for sharing gorgeous artwork from around the world. It makes the world seem a smaller place knowing women can speak the same language of art and creating.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What beautiful quilts. Your friend Kathy is so very talented, her pieces are amazing. Here's hoping that the dust subsides quickly, in the meantime I'm sure you will be busy making beautiful creations. Did the last comment say you are coming to the states? How wonderful ... wish it was near. Blessings and hugs to you.

As you know, I'm not that crafty when it comes to making things, but I do appreciate other peoples work. What sad that I couldn't go to this one because I was sick. Beautiful work and the ones that had the ribbons were brilliant. Loved the heart one myself and the heritage quilt. Hopefully they will have another soon.
