Blue Skies and Bats!

Yes, you read that right! Bats! No, we don't have bats in Kuwait. But they do have bats in Sri Lanka.

Check out these trees. All the bats are hanging upside down. I was captivated by them ... and Zack freaked.

For an 11 year old boy, he hates bugs and bats and anything he considers scary!

I had never seen so many in one place before. I went a little crazy taking pictures and video even though my zoom wouldn't let me get up close and personal.

I've seen bats before, but these were big and flying around during the day. I could barely tear myself away.

Zack was much happier hanging out with the stray dogs that can be found all over the country.

They were all such sweet and smiley dogs.

Smile. Have you ever noticed how easily puppies make human friends? Yet all they do is wag their tails and fall over. ~ Walter Anderson, The Confidence Course, 1997

Sending hugs and smiles your way for a bright and beautiful day! :) Tammy

The bats are amazing!! I think bats are an amazing animal & I have always been intrigued by them especially the large fruit bat. Maybe that is what these are????
Stray dogs??? Around here stray dogs are best avoided....amazing that those are so friendly. Almost like they belong to everyone!!
Have a Wonderful Week!

I love dogs! I am without a doubt a dog person. I wouldn've been happy also to see all the dogs, and probably would've wanted to take them all home! :-)
I have a *thing* for vampires, you know? which are associated with bats, but I don't think I would've been all that comfortable that close to them, though I've heard they are not all that mean. Hey! Batman is my favorite heroe, also a bat-association there!...I am very strange ;-)
have a lovely day!!

Hi Tammy: Wow, I thought bats kept a low profile in the daylight hours. Learn something new every day. Thanks for your interesting post. I think I'm with Zack! Ha! Sincerely, Susan P.S. Oh, thanks for the info about how you got to Kuwait. I'm going to read it later on tonight.

You have not been in the right places if you are looking for bats. They hang out on under the bridges on the riverwalk here in town. At night, they all come out. A few years back, my mom's barn was FILLED with them. She actually paid someone to make them go away. Glad to know they kept you amused. Not so much for Zack... Glad he was able to make a few canine friends though...

Skies are threatening rain tonight. We'll see what tomorrow is like. Hope your blue skies continue to make you smile!

Love ya,
Renee

Bats are so cool. My youngest kids and I used ot enjoy sitting out on the upstairs balcony at night and just wrapping up in blankets and watch the bats fly and catch bugs.
thanks for stopping by,
tammy
oh happy birthday too.

A young man we know at church is moving with his family to Sri Lanka. I saw him today and told him about your blog and the beautiful photos you have of that country. They're very excited to move there. He's a surfer, and they're going with Surfing The Nations. I'm not sure I'll mention the bats :-)
Have a great week.
Blessings,
Marcia

SO MANY BATS. I AGREE, THEY ARE FASINATING CREATURES. AND IT'S NICE TO KNOW THAT DOGS CAN MAKE A PERSON FEEL SPECIAL. THEY HAVE PLACES HERE WHERE PEOPLE TAKE THEIR DOGS TO HELP CHEER UP AND AS ONE DR. SAID, "HELP TO HEAL THE SICK". BEAUTIFUL PICTURES.
LOVE KAY
