Things Collected

A walk at the park should be a serene experience, an opportunity to commune with nature.

It's a shame that at two of the three entrances visitors are greeted with piles of garbage that no one seems to want to haul away.

Found a different kind of feather than what I normally come across.  Sometimes there's chickens next to the park, so maybe it's from one of them.

Also found these roses on the ground, perfectly wrapped and lovely, but I guess whoever got them was none too pleased with the gesture.
Wonder if there was any meaning behind the choice of one black and one white rose?
Found a plastic bag, filled it up with garbage and took it to the nearest trashcan.

I love quotes (as you might have noticed) and am always trying to find pictures that portray their meaning.
Unclose your mind.  You are not a prisoner.
You are a bird in flight, searching the skies for dreams.
(Haruki Murakami)

Have a terrific Tuesday.

What a sad entrance to the park. Hard to believe it isn't picked up on a regular basis. The world needs more people with your thoughtful attitude. The flowers are an interesting find. Wonder what the story there is.
Your photo goes perfectly with your quote.

How sad this is, as is previous post. My beach has a little permanent holder with plastic bags and everyone takes one to pick up trash that does sometimes wash up w the tide. The beach is professionally cleaned daily, twice daily in the summer, along the tideline but depending on the tide timing there can be plastic washed up between visits from the rake truck.
Balloons and bottle rings are my pet peeves.

However now, due to Covid I no longer pick things up, even shells and seaglass are collected with a plastic bag around my hand.

Do you have turkeys in the area? kinda looks like a turkey feather or similiar
I don't understand why people living near there put up with the garbage like that-sad. but here at the lake when I take a walk around the circle and hills one spot always has garbage too-don't get it

Hi Tammy. Can't believe the trash people leave behind. I see a small amount when I walk the outside of the complex. But our maintence men are really good to pick up things outside the fences and gates.

I love your quote and picture...Freedom in Christ to soar!!

I just cannot understand why people leave their rubbish or that they think this is OK, so awful and so alien to me. Saddens me. As to the black and white rose, it wasn't left as a random act of kindness for someone to take home perhaps?

I'm glad you have the cooler weather for your walks.. sorry for the pile of trash.. here in Oregon that would have been cleaned right up. Hopefully the g'ment there will come around to putting more importance on a clean city. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Is there a cultural reason why so many people leave the trash behind? Do they just expect someone else to clean up after them? I really don't understand what their thinking is.
I would also love to know the story behind those beautiful flowers. A black rose is unusual so I'm thinking that something is going on there.
Blessings,
Betsy

I'm wondering the same as Betsy, and, do some people lack trash pickup or means to bring it to a receptacle if not nearby? What a shame. Please be careful, you never know what's in those bags. I also used to collect swan feathers at the lake until I found the myriad of bacteria they had.

I'm sorry that this is another somewhat critical comment-I felt badly about your last last post and on opposite ends we were. But I applaud you for your knowledge and overall understanding of things I really never considered. Kudos to you!

Sending love. Your last photo sums it all up!

Dearest Tammy,
One wonders about the city management that ought to act on this...
It is almost depressing to find every day anew that much trash being tossed out.
Yeah, what will have been the meaning of the black and white rose?!
It would be rather hard for finding any black roses, for gifting one.
Love your quote with the matching photo.
Hugs,
Mariette

Tammy - I love the quote about unclosing the mind - many people could benefit from that quote! So furious about that pile of garbage - it makes zero sense why someone would do this.
