Happenings at Home

It was a very blustery day, so rather than be blown away, I chose to stay safe at home.

Attempted a thumbprint cookie recipe (replacing vegan butter with coconut oil) that was not much of a success, but that didn't stop my husband from eating them when he got home so guess they weren't too bad.
Made one of my favorite bowls of comfort food for lunch.
Did some birdwatching from my bedroom window.
This young dove was all puffed up, probably to protect itself from the wind.
There was also a lot of stretching.
Currently crocheting ornaments with double strands of colorful cotton.

And just finished reading this book which I really enjoyed.
I like the way the stories are laid out and the introduction that precedes each chapter; the refugee accounts are harrowing but hopeful and a reminder that we all must count our blessings and really, truly appreciate what it means to live in peace.

Have a wonderful day.

Dearest Tammy,
Wow, here it has been dreary and dark with cold wind as well + rain.
The common dark days before Christmas...
Love your Brussels sprouts with mashed potato? Looks good and your thumbprint cookies no doubt were very tasty and look nearly perfect.
That dove knows to fluff up for getting layers of air for protection.
Love your Christmas ornaments and the book is no doubt a great way for counting your own blessings!
Hugs,
Mariette

It looks like you had a productive day at home even if you couldn't get out and walk around today. The cookies look yummy and I love the crochet stars. So pretty!
Blessings,
Betsy

I enjoyed staying in with you. That wild bird seems to be near a fancy silver tray, what a lucky dove! Your cookies must have been tasty if your husband ate them! I want to make ginger cookies. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Good morning, lovely post calm here but very cold this week-it's been in the 20s no snow though. I love thumbprint cookies they are always sooo good tasting. I use allot of coconut oil these days for baking. They were on my list this year but haven't made them as of yet-perhaps next week. I love your crochet ornaments! Enjoy the rest of your week-

Some days when the weather isn't so good for taking a walk our indoor activities can be productive and satisfying. I did some baking the other day that didn't turn out so good, but the few jam tarts I made have got eaten anyway. :)

Tammy - sounds like a book that should be required reading! Love the look of those brussel sprouts!
