Everyday Exploring on a September Morn

In wisdom gathered over time I have found that every experience is a form of exploration.
Ansel Adams

I keep asking myself where time goes.
Yesterday sped by so fast and today starts a whole new month.
I'm enjoying dropping by Senior Boy off at school and then going off to do all the things I wasn't able to do when I was sitting behind a desk every day.
This morning I stopped by The Secret Garden to measure the yarnbomb pieces I've already joined together.
It's coming along but needs more work and joining before we actually install it.
The creator of the garden met me and we did some watering while there.
Sadly, the municipality has cut our water supply to the garden drastically, so we are trying to figure out alternate means of water for irrigation.  Very difficult in a desert environment.
The simple yarnbombings I put up at the beginning of the summer are still intact though very dusty.  I went around patting them all and found geckos hiding underneath each and every yarn piece.
After the garden, I headed to the beach for a walk.  Very low tide at that time of the morning.
I then wandered around the area for an hour, discovering the old and the new.
Always on the lookout for pretty spots along the way.
And even finding beauty in rusty old doors.

Happy September!

I feel the same way about the passage of time. It makes me sad really - I said to Jim this morning "I can't believe it's September - Christmas is just around the corner now and I'm tired of that time of the year". My feelings really stem from the fact that my parents, whom I'm very close with, are aging fast at nearly 90 and 85 and for me, each Autumn seems to be a place mark of the quickening passage of time. I just wish everything could slow down (except NOT the work days!! HA HA). I long to be retired even though I'm only 50 and sometimes I think about the fact that I'm only 4 years away from that time. I just get tired of doing the same thing day in and day out at work and want to be able to, like you, have time to explore and just live my life.

So, all that being said - and it sounds kind of negative, but it's not really - just me "thinking" - hope you have a great September.

I've been catching up with you Tammy as I haven't been on the computer much this summer either. Sounds like your trip to the States was a success. How fun for you to meet up with family and also some old friends.
Wow, it sure is hot there! I don't know how you are able to even breathe outside. We're sitting around 32C this week, and that's quite warm enough for me.
My youngest son is also starting his last year of high school next week. I wish there was more time for the kids to decide on a career choice, as he is flip flopping around so many ideas he can't think what to do next. I'll be a lot happier when he settles on something and we can plan next year.
Enjoy your week Tammy :)

I think yarn bombing is so cool! I think you've seen the photos of the yarn bombings I posted in a town that we frequent. They even put the crocheted or knitted pieces on fences (as well as on trees). I can tell by your photos that your walks are so hot and dusty. It must feel like a relief when you finally see the water. Do you ever take off your shoes and walk along the shore? How are you enjoying early retirement, so far? I find it's very freeing. I hate sitting behind a desk all day!

I remember when I left my long time job and finally had time to do what I wanted. How fun! How liberating! Love your yarn bomb pieces. It's too bad about the water situation. Have you found a solution yet?
Blessings always,
Betsy

Hello Tammy,
I guess those geckos like a bit of cozy color for snuggling under, too. How great that you are free to spend your days as you like just now. The heat must be stifling and water shortages seem to be increasing everywhere.
Have a great week.

I just love going on walks with you Tammy...I never know what I'll see. How nice you are crocheting afghans for the geckos now :)) The yarn bombed tree looks so bright and pretty!
I know you will enjoy these free days and make the best of everything, even finding beauty in the rusty doors of life.
sending hugs...

Lovely post Tammy, I think that is neat little geicos enjoying your pieces-must be cooler and shady under there.
I have noticed since retirement that the time just really flies by so much faster-especially more so after I was retired for a few years. I attempt really hard to accomplish something productive every day.
You might enjoy rust dyeing cloth-cotton and silks work really well.
enjoy your new free time
Kathy

Oh my. I guess you need to bring a bottle of water each day when you visit the park and give a drink to the parched growing things. I don't know if I could live in such an arid place. Enjoy your free days, I'm so happy for you. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Water issues here and there it seems to be so uneven when some areas are flooded with water. How fun to have geckos enjoying the shade of your yarn décor. Walking and exploring never get old and are so much better than sitting at a desk for ungrateful bosses. Love the sights you find along your walks. Prayers for Water...

It sounds as though the yarnbombing preparations are well underway and as though the geckos are going to be very happy about it!!! xx

Great photos Tammy, love the yarnbombing in your secret garden, sadly the lack,of water seems to be a global problem..they are talking about enlarging the reservoirs to try and capture more of the rain when it Falls. I can only imagine how happy you are not to have to go back to a room without any windows.

Oh Tammy. I am SO HAPPY for you that you are no longer on that job. It wasn't bringing you happiness and you deserve that. I am glad you are "free." Your day of exploration sounded like fun. Susan

Are you "retired" now? Good for you! I'm extremely happy for you and hope to hear all about your new adventures. So cute about the geicos (sp?)...they evidently really appreciate your work! LOL!

Dearest Tammy,
Oh my, you crocheted 'shelters' for those geckos! It made me laugh as they sure explore things and enjoy them.
What a joy for being able to roam around and enjoying the beauty around you. There's always something to be admired and enjoyed.
Hugs,
Mariette
