Week in Review

The first week of September turned out to be a busy one around here.  My second week back at work; kids started school, and always something in the afternoons and evenings to occupy my time.
I try to make sure the kids have a good breakfast before we head out the door at 7 o'clock each morning, so fixing healthy meals that don't take a lot of effort becomes very necessary during the school year.
Even with all the healthy eating, my energy was at an all time low by the time we got home yesterday afternoon; all I could think about was sleeping.  Thank goodness for weekends!
All this busyness means that there has been no time for crafting or creating.  I took a look back at all the projects I finished in July and August.  Lots of doilies and dishcloths.
Granny borders and gift bags.
Little cotton facial pads.
A necklace.
I even bought yarn this week, hoping to add to some granny squares I'd already made, but so far haven't done a thing.
The wife of the guy who runs our copy room at school just had their first baby who was born prematurely.  Although the mom has gone home, the baby is still in the hospital and needs to gain weight before she can be released.  I would like to make a blanket for them.  Just gotta get those creative juices flowing again.
The weather continues to be hot (111 degrees at the moment), but thankfully with clear skies.  I just saw on the news that Arizona had a major dust storm yesterday, with rain predicted and possible flash floods.  Talk about weather extremes.
Since we have no plans for the day, I think I'll start rolling my yarn into balls.  Maybe that process will  put me in the mood to crochet.

Hope your week has been a good one.

I get in those tired, no-creativity ruts, too, Tammy...just coming out of one, in fact! Life gets SO busy sometimes, doesn't it--and we just have to keep running!

I was just thinking about that this morning...all the movement that goes on in a family. And then the thought came to me how very quickly my girls will be off on their own & it will be FAR too quiet around here...made me think I'm going to be grateful today for the hustle and bustle...

Been trying to get my creativity flowing again, too...roll that yarn, my friend! I think it will definitely get you going in the right direction! When the juices are flowing, I get more energized in all areas--wishing the same for you today...

Giving my kid a healthy breakfast and one that is easy to prepare is tops in my daily chores too.
Your cat looks so cute sleeping.

Glad things are settling back in. Hope it starts to cool off a little for you now. Always enjoy seeing your healthy treats. And not to forget all that colorful yarn.

Have a sweet weekend,
Kate

p.s. finally a rainy day here and a day off riding.

It's nice looking back at your crochet projects. I will say a prayer for the new little baby to gain weight and be healthy so she can go home to her Mom and Dad. Have a great day. :)

Prior to the school start we had our school renovated and everyone lent a hand - we all worked as if there would be no tomorrow to finish it in time - and we did but it has been a week already and I cannot come to myself from the tiredness so I totally understand how you feel. Like you, I sit next to my grannies and only look at them with not even a sparkle to make me crochet a bit. My best friend is having a baby soon and I also decided to make her a granny blanket (what a coincidence). So far I only decided on the colors and I have several patterns selected to choose from. Do you mind sharing the pattern you are going to use?

Have a lovely weekend!

Dearest Tamy, when I read your first sentences and saw the sweet Jingles-photo I remembered a sentence I just have read at the Blog of Myriam:
"Im not doing a single thing this Caturday!" (To see the nice cat-photo please use this link: http://myriamkreativ.blogspot.co.at/2012/09/faule-socken-und-der-freitagsfuller.html )
But may be you don't want to be lazy - I think you are going to make wonderful new crocheting-artworks! Send my love to the brandnew baby!
Warm hugs, hearts & flowers

Hi Tammy,
Working full time as you do and having kidlets makes for a busy home..and still when you look back and see all you made it is quite remarkable!
Fabulous summer weather here in BC..sunny and warm..perfect for the start of grape harvest..the peaches are just so sweet, dripping off your lips sweet when you bite into them!
Hoping you have a restful weekend❤

I don't even see Sarah before school (I'm already off at work) - it's always been either my Dad or Jim who take her to school and none of us eat breakfast - never have. Well, I do eat something a bit later when I get to work but it's technically my lunch and breakfast all up in one since I don't eat at lunchtime.

You've made a lot of beautiful creations again. Lovely! Nice work!

Here, it's feeling more like Autumn I guess - at least not so humid and hopefully, the temps will be as they're predicting for the weekend which will be only in the 70s. That would be wonderful to finally be able to open the windows and to enjoy the outdoors again.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Linda :)

It's been a very busy week for us as well - I think the hardest thing has been making sure everyone is getting enough sleep - Thank goodness for the weekend and we can all catch up!

I so much love your creations the last two months. Definitely understand how busy and tired you are, making good food for family and working hard at school. I got the same feeling as you did after work: nothing but sleeping! Hope things are being settled soon. My prayers for your colleague's baby, you may find some time over the weekend to work on the blanket for them!
Hugs, LS

Lulls are good Tammy. You have to appreciate the rests and do some of the backup work so that when creativity hits again you'll be more than ready. Just saying.

You've been very busy this week. Enjoy your weekend. Diane

Such a rough way for that family to start being a family, hope that sweet baby is going to gain enough weight to come home soon. And a special prayer for Mom and Dad as they travel this stressful time. A blanket is just what that little on needs to help it come home safe and snug. Even if it is hot those preemies needed to be swaddled up tight. Get some rest, the weeks will surely get easier.
Hugs,
Meredith

Playing with color usually gets me inspired to create stuff. Your shots of those spires are great, lots of detail in them. Fixing healthy fast food when everyone is busy is a challenge. Preplanning is the only way to do it I guess. I need to take heed and do a little of that myself!
Have a fantastic weekend!!

this week was crazy here too because of Isaac followed by Labor Day. Some of my students lost their homes and are moving to a new school next week...makes me sad. It was nice to come see your projects you've completed. I have several too but can't share them yet...they are for a Halloween swap!

Hi Tammy...I know what you mean about running out of steam. Some days, a quick power nap perks me right up again for round two.

It's hard to be creative when you are working full time. I remember those days, trust me.

Take care and hope you have a good weekend. Have some FUN, too. Susan

Goodness, you certainly had the hook moving with all those wonderful doilies, dishcloths and such. Once you're rested I'm sure the hook will be moving again. Looking forward to see what you'll be making for this special little one. Maybe one day you'll join in a CAL that we have going. I'm into afghans right now, can't seem to get enough. Have a great weekend, blessings.

Dearest Tammy,

Sometimes we really feel like sleeping and what's wrong with that? Look at our felines; they do it all the time. You have been very busy all summer but for this tiny baby you will have a good reason to start again.
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Just the thought of having to be out of the house by 7 am makes me tired!

Wow 111 is hot - we got up to 100 quite a number of times this summer and it was quite uncomfortable.

Love all your crochet work! I really love when towels and pillowcases have crochet edgings and I really want to learn to do that.

Wow! plenty of doilies. They all look so pretty, Tammy.

When you put all your crafting together, I'm so impressed with all you did. When I saw the necklace I was reminded of one I saw on Anthropology's site. Of course it had rhinestones. I also saw one on Pinterest made from an old quilt. Very creative people out there.

We did indeed have a dust storm on Thursday evening. My son was worried that I might get stuck in it on my drive home after homework with the girls. Luckly I got home before the storm. Then we had rain and floods yesterday. Hubby said they were still pumping water out of buildings and basins this morning when he was out. Now we are having cooler weather. Below 100 and cloudy. Does seem a little like Fall.

Oh how I've missed you! My fault...not yours! The older I get the less I can multi-task....it's awful and emotional stuff....no way can I handle that anymore! LOL! It exhausts me. You must have been exhausted after a whole Summer off too. It's hard to change gears! You really did get some beautiful things created this Summer. I didn't see it all either...I love the necklace and the face pads! You do beautiful work! I'm so glad to be over here reading about you again. I had a "fluster" of activities lately but today was for me and I walked and spent most of the day outdoors since it cooled off. It was a glorious day full of nature's soothing beauty!
I'm so happy to be over here again...it's like seeing an old friend after an absence...same thing....it's so good to see you again! LOL!

I love the look of your healthy breakfasts. It sounds like the hot days and getting back into the swing of work must really be using up all of the energy you have. I hope that you have a good week Tammy and that your energy levels return so you can get back to doing what you love, creating. Happy Monday to you. x

I love how you get so many crochet projects done! I have a few different ones started...I just need to finish one! I get so excited to start another pattern I guess. I've started working again a few hours here and there at the surgery center, so time feels a little less available for crafting. We're on a record 48 days of no rain in Seattle...but at least the temperature is nice. Stay cool my friend!

Hi Tammy!
Once you get back in the swing of things your energy will be up and you'll be back to crocheting! Looking forward to seeing the blanket you make for the new baby!

You were very creative through July and August so I don't think you'll have any problems getting into the creative swing of things. However, I do know the feeling of being completely drained and having no energy to do a thing.

Enjoy your week ~ xo

I've been having those days especially since starting school. I look forward to the weekend, but they are usually busy too. Love all the colorful doilies and the dfferent patterns. Pretty enough to be framed maybe.
I'm hoping by now that your friends precious little one is out of the hospital. That has to be rough. I'm sure you'll make a beautiful afghan for their little one. I loved the ones you made for me and still have them. Hope you get your energy back.

Hugs,
Melissa
