A Little Update

Progress on the baby blanket has been slow.  I managed just a little work on it over the weekend but most of my time was spent preparing for a visitor.
My sister-in-law arrived late Sunday night from Toronto and she came bearing gifts.
An old photo album that was found in my in-law's house after they both had passed away.  It's the first time I've seen a baby picture of my husband -- he's the one in the middle.  So cute!
It was so fun to see all these pictures from 50+ years ago and eye opening to see a side of my in-laws that I never knew.
She also brought this pencil drawing of their dad done years ago by a family friend.
Hubby and his sister have now gone off on a trip together.
And I'm still trying to keep up with the business of every day life.
But, of course, taking just a little bit of time for some sweet stuff, too.

 Coconut cookies.
1 cup flour; 1 cup flaked coconut; 1 cup sugar (I put less); 1 egg; 1 stick of melted butter.
Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!

Your blanket seems to be progressing nicely. It is always so heart warming to see all those lovely old photos. These days everything is digital and I miss those bulky albums. Hmm... I can smell the coconut cookies. I too made a sweet today where coconut was the main ingredient.

The blanket is lovely and how neat that your sister-in-law brought those wonderful items. Love the old photos of course and the wonderful drawing.

Those cookies are making my mouth water, but alas, I'm the only one in my house who likes coconut.

Sarah and I are returning to the humane society this afternoon to see about adopting our 2nd cat. We were there for a few hours on Monday with my sister and made a selection who is now on hold, but we may end up adopting a fellow who is 10 years old. We'll see how it works out today. ;)

Kinda regards,
Linda

Hello! I found your blog through another blog, as it happens usually. I'd like to ask, is your husband from Kuwait? I also saw a photo from India in your blog. I am married to an Indian and we live in India, so I think me and you are in the same boat of intercultural marriage ))
I understand so much how it is important to find hobbies in a far country, so I also crochet, decorate and so on :) Baby blanket looks awesome!

Dearest Tammy,
That is almost sheer telepathy... We received yesterday in the mail a photo album from Pieter's brother. His brother's adopted daughter had sent it to him. For the first time Pieter got to see pictures of his Mom at the age of 4 and also of his grandmother at the age of 24... Quite some treasures. I did scan some of them; it is a lot of work for making them all digital but worth it for their sentimental value. Guess that your visitor and such emotional treasures are a lot more meaningful than having crocheted a lot... Those things can wait.
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Eeek.... such treasures! I buy old family photos and make them into tags... its a shame when families don't want them any longer. You should make your husbands baby picture into a little fairy and hang him up around your house :-)

I too am crocheting... in this awful heat.. cracks me up just thinking about it lol
big hugs,

Sam was a real cute baby. When I looked real quick at the pics before reading, I thought the sketch was of Sam...he looks ALOT like his father. That must of been fun looking and all those photos and I'm sure it brought back fond memories for Sam.
Your baby blanket is gorgeous as always. The colors are beautiful. I'm reaaaaaalllly tired today but wanted to hop on here since I havent been here in ages. I've been so caught up in trying to find prek activities, I've sidelined everything else. Anyways, glad we are getting together on Saturday.

Have a wonderful and carefree week.

I love the pictures of your in-laws. He was a cute baby! Good looking family all around! What nice presents...raspberry...yumm...I know it's soap and I wouldn't eat it but I say "yum" for smells too. LOL!
That's very special to have that pencil drawing...good artist!
How special that is that your husband and his sister can go have some time together...just like when they were kids. I never had any brothers or sisters and I think I missed out!
Enjoy your week!
