Prayer and Gratitude

Our friend, Yukiya Saito, is a Japanese businessman living in Dubai with his wife. When we learned of the earthquake in Japan, my husband called to find out how his family fared the disaster.

Fortunately, his family and his wife's are okay, but he did say that his associates at the office in Japan were stuck with no place to go. The Japanese rely heavily on the transit system and with no service and everything in chaos, they have no way to get home.

We visited Mr. Saito in Dubai a couple of years ago and he has come to Kuwait but we have yet to meet his wife. She doesn't speak English and is very shy because of that.

The news coming out of Japan is devasting and hard to imagine as we view images on our tv screens, safe and sound in our own homes. All we can do is pray!

Whatever our individual troubles and challenges may be, it’s important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have, on every level. We need to literally “count our blessings,” give thanks for them, allow ourselves to enjoy them, and relish the experience of prosperity we already have.”— Shakti Gawain

God bless us one and all! Friendship blessings, Tammy

Tammy,

What a touching post. I had just been reading the latest info on this disaster and then to open my blog and find your post. You are so right. We should thank God for our blessings each and every day.
Glad to hear that your fiends's family is safe.
Prayer is the answer.

So glad your friends' families are okay, Tammy...I can't even stand to watch all that's going on in Japan...I know we're all praying for them.

Such a lovely thought, and so very true. I'm so very grateful for everything I have. No matter how hard things get (i.e. economy, etc.) it's NOTHING like what they're going through.

Hope your weekend is wonderful, dear friend...

Julie

Hi Tammy,
You are so right. We need to give thanks everyday. We have SO much to be thankful for... praying for all those in Japan. My heart is heavy for them. They need all of our prayers. They are still in harms way.
Counting you as one of my blessings...
Sonya

It just continues to get worse. We have so much it seems and they have so little right now. Our prayers are so important. Blessings, Diane

It's terrible what they're going through yet at the same time, I'm more worried at the moment about my daughter and the fear of cancer and praying solely for her good biopsy results after her early Monday surgery. When something hits so close to home like this severe health worry, I've now learned that nothing else in the world matters to me at all at this time.
Hope your friends will be okay.

Dearest Tammy,

Just got in touch with the organizer of our sister-city exchange with Sanbongi, Japan. He's fine but so many others are not. I'm still grateful for the July 2007 escape we had with our five students (15/16 yr) one day early back to the US. There was a typhoon and also an earthquake with a mini-tsunami. This time it is a monster tsunami and what can we say? Indeed we, the western world should reflect a lot more on all the things we HAVE!

Lots of love,

Mariette

The devastation and loss of life in Japan is frightening. I hear that up to 10,000 people are missing. We are indeed so lucky and need to give thanks for that.
Blessings, Angela.

It´s devastating what happened to the japanese people. We never know from one day to another what will happen next day and I agree with you. Gratitude is the key to a happy life I think. We are alive!

"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude"

I love the new music on your page. It´s so healing and relaxing. Wish you all the best.
Blessing Susan

Glad to hear your friend and his family are safe. That's one more family that is okay...and that's the way we have to handle this, one person at a time, one day at a time.
Thanks for the timely reminder to always, always be grateful.

Tammy, I am so glad that your friends are safe. I am so affected by this disaster. Right now I haven't been even able to blog. I am so fortunate and blessed to be where I am and ok. My heart is aching for all those struck by this tragedy. The quote is so true.

Such tragedies are awful and hard to imagine the pain and suffering other people are going through when we sit safe in our homes. Glad to know that Yukiya's family is safe. Hopefully they get the transport going soon.
Sending out prayers to everyone hit by this devastation and to your friend Linda who is fighting a tough battle with her daughter. Hope everything comes out positive. Peace and Love to all.

I'm glad your friends are safe.

I've been feeling very down with what is happening in Japan. Our severe floods in January which we are still recovering from, followed by New Zealand's Christchurch earthquake only three weeks ago and now, Japan's earthquake and tsunami...not to mention other extremes in around the world. It certainly puts our lives into perspective.

Love,
Serena xo

Hello, Tammy!

My name is Mikiko living in Hiroshima (located in the southern part of Japan). Your heartwarming message brought a tear to my eyes. Words fail to express my gratitude. Plus, thank you all for your pray for Japan. Many people in the northern part of Japan are now having difficulties. But I am sure that they feel your love and support.

Let me introduce the famous poem written by Japanese poet, Kenji Miyazawa who was born in the northern Japan. The poem shows the spirit of people in the northern part of Japan.
