Last nite we met Shereen and her hubby for South Indian food.
Sam and I both had Thali (rice and bread served with a mix of curries, yogurt and dessert).
Shereen had Rava Masala Dosa (semolina pancakes with a potato filling served with coconut and tomato chutneys).
Thomas ordered Vegetarian Ooothapam (vege pancake which he called an Indian pizza).
And Chana Bhatura (chickpeas with bread).
Sam ate his South Indian Thali the traditional way.
Dessert was Gulab Gamun
along with Spiced Indian Chai.
Good friends and good food always makes for a good combination ... even if I did gain a couple of pounds in the process.
Thankful that the weekend starts today. Sending all good wishes your way. Friendship blessings, Tammy

Oh what a happy feast! We love Indian food, and have a restaurant we frequent which specializes in South Indian cuisine (I think I've eaten each of the dishes you've just mentioned)! YUM! Looks like you enjoyed your friends and dining! Have a lovely rest of the week!
Dearest Tammy,
Oh, how I would have loved for having been there with you! During all the years that we worked in South India we ate a variety of their various dishes. We love it, even though it is one of the most spicy foods.
Lots of love,
Mariette
I would say the couple of pounds was worth it. Such a nice evening, wonderful dinner.
OOO...everything looks so delish. I wish I could be a vegetarian but my family would freak out. Maybe I'll stick my big toe in a little and test the waters.
love ya,

Hi Tammy,

Oh my God! I wish there was something Indian around here! We don't have that sort of cuisine in Guatemala; that I know of. It looks delicious. Good for you! One should always enjoy life's pleasures...despite the pounds :o)
have a lovely day!
Sounds like a delightful meal. Best of all you got to enjoy it with friends.
YUMMMM...I want all those recipes! And enjoying them with a friend is priceless. Have a great rest of the week. Susan
Dear Tammy. I LOVE Indian food. Just picked up some frozen Indian bread at Trader Joe's. Put it in the toaster oven last night to serve with teriyaki chicken. ha! Nothing like mixing cultures. There is one really good Indian restaurant within driving distance from here and I love going there. Sounds like you all had a great time and I'm so happy for all of you. Susan

I'm imagining the wonderful aromas that come when Indian food is cooking...the food looked delicious and, even better, that you enjoyed it with good friends!

Your dinner looks just amazing. What a wonderful way to start your weekend. I was especially happy to see that Shereen let you take a picture of her. Good food and good friends - it does not get much better than that!!
Hope the rest of your weekend was as good as dinner!!!
Love,
Renee
Hi Tammy, I'm so glad you visited my blog and left a comment because I have now discovered your blog which is lovely. That food looks delicious. We eat a lot of Indian food as my husband is Anglo Indian and came to the UK after his father died in the 60's he was living in Calcutta at the time. Most of his family have left India now, but there are still some there.
What a wonderful way to spend you birthday. The view from the Lavender House was just simply gorgeous. I'm sure just spending a few days there was not enough.
