Home is Best on Rednesday!

After two days of being home and enjoying my time, I finally ventured out this morning for groceries. Big mistake. It is hot! It is dusty! And I've had a honkin headache ever since.

This sweet little red and white crocheted basket came home with me. And I'm still trying to use up all those crocheted chains I made. I may be going too far with the recycling though. The brown part of the flowers on this card are from the liners in a box of chocolates a friend gave me. What can I say? Waste not, want not.

Even when it is hot outside, no matter the time of year, I still like to make soup. I posted the recipe for this Chickpea, Tomato and Pasta soup before. It is one of my favorites.

For dinner we had tuna on Wasa crispbread and a nice tomato salad with coriander. Simple, easy, yet nutritious. Of course, when I came home from grocery shopping, the kids wanted to know why there was no chips or candy or ice cream. My husband is the one who usually buys that stuff.

My 14 year old had a burst of creative energy so grabbed a rock from the balcony and painted it. I bought red and black frames so that he could do some of his twirly swirly artwork for me but he hasn't even started that yet. Maybe bribery will work.

I'm feeling the need to crochet. Tried this rose pattern from Elizabeth Cat's blog, it just didn't poof up as much as her's.

I'm visiting a friend tomorrow morning so need to go bake something. Then I'll sit and crochet. Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Best wishes always, Tammy

Today is chilly here...BUT.... we are in for some HOT weather over the weekend!! Actually I am enjoying this respite of cool!!
I just made a thread crochet swan & stiffened it...It is on the back porch drying as I type this. When it gets done I will post it. It is actually another "dustable" for me....((Don't you just love the word dustable??)) It describes so many things....LOL!!

Marilyn

Oh how funny! Love your red. It does "pop". Rednesday would be a good "meme" (is that what they call a blog party?) Great idea to put your baking goodies inside the tins. Your friends will be blessed doubly.

I have trouble crocheting or knitting when it is so humid here. (and 98 today).

I like your new "look" to your blog, and the side photos of where you've been in the world!

Soup...looks good! Some magazine once said that if you're hot, eat soup. It regulates the tempeerature inside and out. Wonder if that's true?
Crochet must be on alot of our minds lately. I see Marilyn (above) is doing some, too. Me, too. Last night I made the cutest piece of long lace. Easy to make with cotton thread. Don't know what I'll do with it, but something will suggest itself. The flower you made is sweet...love that color.
Stay cool, crochet, and relax! You deserve it!
Hugs,
Jan

I don't envy your heat. It is hot here, but we are still getting out. Thankfully, golf tourneys are over before 11AM, so it is not too hot yet. We have been going out to practice their swings on the school soccer field, and after about an hour of chasing down their balls, I am HOT!! I go and dump them in the neighborhood pool, and I curl up on a lounge chair in the shade reading a book. It has worked out nicely so far.
It looks like your crafting has kept you busy. Good for you. I am hoping that means that you are enjoying your summer break so far.
I have not made that soup in SO long. I want some right now! One of my favorites too!
Dinner looks yummy. I have been eating a lot of tuna lately too. Tastes really good somehow! I put a bit of olive oil in mine. I can't remember the last time I made it with mayo. That is the only way we ate it as a kid.
Hope the head feels better!! LOVE the crocheted rose!!

Love,
Renee

okay Tammy...

so how many things do we actually have in common...well your post from today tells me a lot!

first...crochet chains! hello! i'm so there!
next tuna....i just had that for lunch today!
i have been known to use chocolate wrappers myself in creative ways.....going a bit too far? maybe, but who cares! it's fun! lol

as far as the heat....i hate it too....when i was three years old...my family went to Arizona...and apparently after getting off the plane...i let go of my mother's hand and ran away from her...back up the airplane steps and into the plane wanting to go back home!

so...i hate the extreme heat too!

i too have a fourteen year old son....and he likes to create as well...

does your son have a blog? mine does....it's
www.michaelsmedley.blogspot.com check it out...he might like it!

ummm....crochet, crochet, crochet! i'm in the mood to crochet like, ALWAYS!

Oh, I meant to say that 'tuna thing' with tomato salad looks fabulous! I'll opt for a simple tuna sandwich. Thanks for the inspiration!

You get more done in one day than I do in a week!! I love the fact that you recycle so much in your projects. The card was wonderful.
Have fun visiting with your friend tomorrow.

Your meal looks delicious. I have had a few cherry tomatoes turning ripe, but not enough for this type of salad yet. I also have cilantro growing, but it's getting so hot here, that's it's going to seed. I just let them turn brown and throw them back in the soil. We have more growing all the time that way.
Btw, I forgot to mention it, but I like your new background and header. I haven't figured out how to make a mosaic header like that yet :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Hope your headache is better. Mine was better after some Tylenol and a power nap. Ended up going to school today but did leave an hour and a half early. I want to go to the Iranian souk and look for some goodies to bring home to friends and family. Good for you making use of your free time. I've been kinda lazying about and have been making little effort with my xstitch for Renee. Wish me lots of luck.

Yummy dishes as always! The soup looks delicious, and the salad, well, simply amazing.
Sorry about the headache! Direct sunlight tends to also give me headaches, and it's simply awful. Hope it goes away soon!

have a lovely day!

Sorry to hear the weather gave you a headache. Just think in a little while you will be sitting on my deck with me... feeling the cool breezes we are having and soaking up the sunshine, while watching Sadie run after her frisbee, and we are having a lovely drink and catching up.. Yeah!
love ya bunches!!

Hey, that is a pretty crocheted posy!
Your tomato salad looks scrumptious as does your homemade soup.
