We are not to throw away those things which can benefit our neighbor. Goods are called good because they can be used for good: they are instruments for good, in the hands of those who use them properly.
-- Clement of Alexandria (150?-220?)
A lightbulb box ...
becomes a Christmas gift box for a necklace or chocolates.
I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things we could use.
-- Mother Teresa
A sturdy box received from a local bakery with chocolates ...
gets a makeover;
and becomes a gift box for candles.
I hope your day begins with sunshine.
And ends with a heart full of blessings.
An Inspirational Poem
Be Thankful
By Author Unknown
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.
Best wishes today and always, Tammy

Hello Tammy, wonderful post today. I so enjoy visiting with you and appreciate your stops at my place. I am going to keep that poem, if it is okay with you. I am leading a faith group on Tuesday and I want to use gratitude for my theme. The way I pick my bits of history. I go into Google and search events of the day I am posting on. Today Nov. 15th ie and is just loved the colors. You are so right about the suffering of children and families all over the world. That is part of my daily prayer. Blessings

You are so good about repurposing packaging that would normally be thrown away into new packaging for gifts. I love your ideas and will be looking at things differently before I throw them away.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Beautiful blog today. Coming over here everyday is my fix. You really do make one think about how humble we should be and be thankful for the smaller things in life that one might think of as unnessasary. Loved the gift boxes. Exquisite really!!! I can honestly say that I am touched daily by the quotes and the pureness of your heart. This blog was put together beautifully. Kudos to you.
Hi Tammy,
You are just so creative. I am looking at all my trash with different eyes now. Your ideas for reusing these boxes and other packing materials is wonderful. Thank you so much for the inspirations. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hello, I can't remember if I've ever been here before...but I like your blog! Thanks for the ideas. I am a re-purposer too, but my husband just thinks I'm a pack-rat. I hate to see things go to waste too!
Alright Miss Tammy: I like the idea but did you reinforce the bottom of your light bulb box somehow? You can't post something cute and then not give details ;-)
You are the queen of recycling boxes and such into beautiful gifts...hats off to you.

This was a wonderful post, Tammy. I too have lots of things in my art room that are to be used for something else "one day". I keep tins, boxes, ribbons, decorative papers, etc to use in my art.
Loved the poem. Very special words. Very sensible words.

Wonderful post Tammy. Like your way of recycling!
What a lovely post today. Yes, all too often we don't realize the good and useful things we toss away every day - sometimes we are so careless that we pitch people out with the garbage and need to get on our knees and ask for the forgiveness of our Lord.
I love seeing your package upgrades!
You are getting more creative all the time. GOOD FOR YOU!! I love seeing what you are doing with empty boxes. Your thoughtful post has left me with a smile on my face. Thanks for all the great inspiration!!
Love,
Renee
