Mini Souk at the Movenpick

Entrance to the hotel where the British Ladies Society had a mini-souk before their monthly meeting.

I bought some homemade sweet treats. Money went to charity for Operation Hope and support of a school in Mali. Sugar cookies and carrot cookies with cream cheese frosting. Yummo!

Quilted hearts made by volunteers in Kuwait who donate them to Operation Hope.

Handmade cards from Mali and notecards with scripture on the backside.

Teacher cards for Christmas.

A frame decorated with seashells (how ironic that it has the same quote I've been cross-stitching lately).

And pillow covers from India.

I feel like I took a trip around the world in that quick little shopping spree! Hope all is well in your little corner of the world! Peace & blessings, Tammy

Daily Inspiration

My favorite thing to do is spread joy -- that's the message on this tag I made yesterday.

Even the simplest of gifts can bring delight to another.

Blue Monday and Daily Inspiration

A while back I talked about Pink Saturday, White Wednesday and then jokingly said "How about a Blue Monday?" And I thought I was being original. HA! Little did I know there actually is such a thing. Of course, I shoulda known -- everything is out here in blogland. Blue happens to be my favorite color. Here are some decorative items in my kitchen ...

and a vase in the dining area.

I love quotes! Found a bunch of movitational quotes I had printed out years ago and never used. Decided to use them for tags and such. Here's one about Gratitude.

Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday!

Welcome!

I put the Fall wreath on the front door yesterday.
When I blog, this is where I sit in our tv room.

The wall next to me has a display of photos -- black and white family pictures we found when Sam's parents passed away; travel photos; mementoes.

This is the view across from me.

And next to that ... a wild and crazy area. I swear, it is an organized mess!

I tried to be a little creative today. Decorated another brown jar.

And made an Autumn card to give as a gift with a candle.

Thanks for visiting. Friends are angels who follow you through life.

God bless you one and all as you make your way through this next week. Peace & blessings, Tammy

Friendship Blessings

My friend Mercy came by this evening to leave Kuwait Little League fliers for me to distribute at school tomorrow.

And as promised, she finished up a Halloween quilt for me and brought it along. Love it! Thanks Mercy! (Hint, hint: Thanksgiving is the next holiday. HA! :)

As soon as I turned my back, someone else decided they loved it too!

Last nite I made a Pumpkin Krunch. The recipe came from a wonderful blog out there but I have so many favorites, I can't remember where I got it from.

Although our weather does not feel like Fall, I can have the smells of Autumn inside.

Visit from a friend!

One of my very bestest friends (Melissa) dropped by today bearing gifts. I love, love, love walnut bread from PQ.

She brought me a half loaf all sliced and ready to go. I've been cleaning most of the day so decided to take a little break. Toasted walnut bread with light cream cheese and honey. Yummo! I also had some green tea and found a pink cup to have it in. This was a gift from a friend for a past birthday (I think). It says 5 Beautiful Things that are true about you: You are very special. You have the qualities within you that many people would love to have. You have a big heart and a good and sensitive soul. You can and you do make a conderful contribution to this world. Never forget what a treasure you are. That special person in the mirror may not always get to hear all the compliments you so sweetly deserve, but you are so worthy of such an abundance ... of friendship, joy and love. (Douglas Pagels) wow! That's a lot to put on a cup.

She also brought me a Kimmidoll named Sachi which means Joy. It came with this message: My spirit enriches and uplifts. By embracing my spirit and approaching everything in life with passion and enthusiasm, you can make even the simple and ordinary, memorable and enjoyable.

My pink cup and Kimmidoll even fit in with the theme of Pink Saturday! I hope everyone is having a beautiful and joyous day! Tammy

Someone has a birthday today!

Yusef turns 14 today! Of course, as a teenager, he really didn't want to pose for a picture.

Happy Pink Saturday

Although I haven't officially joined Pink Saturday with any other blog out there, I am still posting pink stuff. Below are flowers that you can find growing around Kuwait -- they can be shaped into bushes or grow like hanging vines, and come in a variety of colors. Thought I would share a couple with you that I snapped as I was out and about yesterday.

October also launched Breast Cancer Awareness Month so pink will be more prominent than ever!

•The pink ribbon is an internationally recognized symbol of hope and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
Check out this pen my friend and hairdresser gave me. I just love the idea! Ballpoint pen, florists tape and a silk flower.

I found this information about the psychology of color: Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman's cheeks. It's not surprising that when giving or receiving flowers, pink blossoms are a favorite. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood.
Hope you all have a carefree day and a fantastic weekend! Peace & blessings, Tammy

Fab Friday

I'm always saving stuff and trying to find ways to reuse it. I need to be quicker about that as I am running out of storage space. I use a natural vege extract to season most of what I cook (soups, veges, etc). I use it a lot, so have lots of brown jars.

They clean up really well -- no sticky residue or such. I put some ribbon around it, cross-stitched a little something for the lid and put some chocolate kisses inside.

I also finished another cross-stitching, same sentiment, different color. Quick and easy!

And another quick tag -- I will be making many more of these.

I love free time on Friday so I can craft and play!

This and That

Last nite I had a board meeting for Kuwait Little League (I'm the Recording Secretary). It was at a friend's house and she gifted me with this beautiful Christmas quilt she made. She is new to quilting but says it is her way to relieve stress. From what I could see, she is whipping out quilts right and left. HA! I told her she now needed to make me quilts for all the holidays!

This is Yusef's team that went to Dubai for the Little League Tournament in April 2008.

And here's Zack 2 seasons ago.

Update: Jingles is fine now. Meowing for food every morning and waiting in the sink for a trickle of water to quench her thirst!

Thoughtful Thursday
