This morning I went for a very quick walk by the seaside before heading over to a friend's for a visit.
Sadly, there are so many stray kitties along the corniche, but they are very well taken care of by kind folks who feed them every day. Many of these seaside cats have even been spayed and neutered through a program that one of the shelters was running some years ago.
You can see the clipped ear on the kitty below; a sign that he was neutered.
Unfortunately, the shelter closed so there is no longer a TNR program.
My friend, Sarah, rescues, fosters and helps find homes for abandoned kitties. In fact, she often winds up keeping many of them which is why she currently has 7 cats and 2 dogs.
Today I got to meet Sweet Rani (who sat in my lap most of the time I was there).
The smallest feline is a masterpiece.

And Mama.
Isn't she beautiful?
Purring would seem to be, in her case, an automatic safety valve device for dealing with happiness overflow.

What beautiful kitties. I’m so sorry about the overpopulation problem, but your friend has adopted some gorgeous Kitty’s. You seem to surround yourself with people with hearts as big as you have. Many blessings, Betsy
I so enjoyed your gorgeous photos and learning more about the beautiful kitties around you, Tammy. I hope new folks will take up the cause. The seaside town I lived in, Crescent City, CA, had a very active cat rescue program, and several of my friends had many loved kitties! Thanks for posting :)
Your friend has a generous heart. And the last quote had me laughing out loud … overflow, indeed! We had a recent scare with our youngest cat - a week ago she was very listless and vomiting. An emergency trip to the vet (now an hour from our house) and some meds, and she is back to her normal, grumpy self! But we love her so!
What a shame that the shelter closed but at least there are some people with a good heart who feed those kitties. Rani and Mama are gorgeous and your friend Sarah is an angel like you.
Hello Tammay :) Peaceful city landscapes weather is also very nice we are going to miss the beautiful weather the winter starts, cats are so sweet.. Have a nice day..
such sweet kitties, that is nice that people feed the strays. Kitties are easy to get attached to
Thank heavens for people like you and your friend. What a good life she has given these cats. I have such a soft spot for cats and could easily have dozens...lol :) Kit
Hi Tammy,
Looks like you had a wonderful day out walking to your friends, such a gorgeous place and the kitties are all so sweet.
Sarah is very kind and we need people like you and her to make the world a better place.
Happy weekend

Oh Tammy, I LOVE kitties. They are so precious. Do you have one? Susan
Tammy, Negate that last comment. You have JINGLES, the sweetest cat in the world, right? Susan
Nice kitty pictures. I have two friends who take in foster, or abandoned cats. They both have a houseful, but are happy to have them.
Dearest Tammy,
So sad that the shelter no longer exists for taking care of the neutering and spaying...
There is so much suffering for abandoned pets, so sad and hard to imagine that people can be so cruel!
Our six felines are very lucky and happily spoiled...
Way behind on things due to my tutoring in the afternoons. They are remodeling our master bathroom so our household is upside down and cleaning doesn't make sense till it is all done.
We also got a new airconditioning installed on Monday and Tuesday, just in time for the cold spell, during the night suddenly rather cool and rainy today! We voted, early voting and there was quite a line. We look forward to the outcome...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Tammy, I tried to view your blog post when I was at the beach but the internet was so slow the photos wouldn't load. I'm home now.. I'm so glad there are people who are trying to help with the feral cat population. What a nice friend you have. The white cat is gorgeous. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I've had that DaVinci quote on a card for many years. He could have said "horses" - he drew plenty of horses. But he said "cats." Good eye, that Leonardo!
