Travel Throwback: Jersey City

Last summer while road tripping with my boys, we spent a day in Jersey City, NJ.
I always enjoy wandering around the historic district of any town we visit.
Old buildings have so much character and I love the stoops that are common in New York and the surroundings areas.
Jersey City is also where you can find the wonderful Hudson Valley River Walkway.
This is the closest we ever got to the Statue of Liberty.
My Colorado boy ran down to the river to bring me back a stone.
They make fun of me for crocheting covers for them, but that didn't stop him from getting me the perfect river rock.
And last night, I finally crocheted a cover for it.
Today's prompt, of course, for the index card a day challenge is the 4th of July so I painted the American flag.

Have a safe and happy Independence Day!

I think that is so sweet how your son thought of you when he saw the stones. I'll bet you never look at it without remembering that moment. Love the cover you crocheted for it and the little flag too.

Hi Tammy, This stone will always remind you of the trip with your son. Do you bring home a stone from every journey you make and crochet a cover for it?
Happy 4th of July!

I love that you collect stones and natural trinkets. I do the same. Everywhere we go, we bring back rocks, shells, feathers, what have you.... I always view these items as God's free souvenirs. :)

Your photos prompted good memories for me, too. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful creativity with us, Tammy. You are an encouragement to me. A little family picnic is planned for today here, and some of our household is going to visit friends for a bit as well. Wishing you a safe and happy day as well. xx :-)

Tammy - Happy Fourth of July to you as well! Your artistry shines through again - I love the flag postcard! I also am enthralled with the shot of the stairs leading to the door with the wood embellishments - makes me want to know what's inside.

Dearest Tammy,
What a sweet post with so much content!
Love the history too, that is the driving force behind all our trips, for both of us!
Deeper understanding the course of history and culture and that enriches us for being somewhere and knowing deep inside your heart the many why's.
Your Colorado boy is a great kid for getting you such a perfect stone! Kudos to him.
And to you for making a great covering.
Love the American flag and hope your 4th of July was a meaningful one.
Hugs,
Mariette

We beg people to come take a stone in Missouri.....it would make gardening a lot easier. Love the flag! Looks like NJ's beaches were all closed this 4th of July. Have a good week. Jan

Love those old buildings. Thanks for the tour. How sweet for your boy to get you a rock, and I'm so glad they each get their own little covering.

Hi Tammy!

Really nice buildings. So beautifu area.
What if they built cities as beautiful these days?
I think people would be happier. Enjoy a little better anyway.

Fun idea to chrochet covers for your stones.
And belated greetings on 4th July.

I walked alot and slept a lot. So tired after all that happened.
I´ll email you tomorrow. Now back to sleep.

Wishing you a lovely Friday/weekend.
