Fun and Food

One of the ladies who works for the hospital group I volunteer with invited a bunch of us (staff and volunteers) to her place so we could meet her mom who is visiting from India.
That's Neelam behind me and her mom is to the right.
We started with salad, snacks and appetizers while waiting for everyone to arrive.
And then to my surprise, we played games.
First up was the bangle game where you had to find as many pairs as you could in 45 seconds.
Not as easy as it sounds since there were teeny little golden designs on some of them.
Next we played Bingo and I won twice, by being the first to get 5 numbers and then with a full house.
Since there were prizes involved, that meant I got two gifts.

And the final game was to see how many matchsticks you could stack on top of a bottle opening in 45 seconds.  Again, not as easy as it looks.
This time I tied for the most with two other ladies -- we all got 22, so then it was time for the playoff, but this time we had only 20 seconds and had to stack them using only one hand, picking the matchsticks up one by one.

I managed to win with 10 matchsticks and received two gifts which I promptly handed over to my two opponents. :)  A win-win for everyone.

Such fun!
Lunch and dessert was then served before we wound down the afternoon and all started to head home.  It was such a lovely time, lots of good food, meeting some new folks along with Neelam's sweet mom, as well as playing fun and challenging games.

Hope you are having a fun weekend.

Tammy - I love this post - your competitive streak comes through, and yet you gave your gifts away - how sweet! And the food looks scrumptious, and so much variety presented in such an attractive way. I will have to remember these games for the future - simple but fun! Have a wonderful week ahead.

How fun...the games. Every party should have a few. We need to be lighthearted---I know these games made you all laugh. And congrats on the wins! You are so gracious for giving away the last two gifts.

The food looks amazing, I wish you had named a few of the dishes. I'm trying to expand my cooking experiences to dishes and places I'm not so familiar with.

You look beautiful in these pictures, Tammy, as do your friends.

Wow! All that food looks so wonderful! What a great idea to play games too!
Your giving your prizes away reminded me of when I first played lawn green bowls (going back about 20 years) it was then the custom that if one won more than one prize in a raffle you either passed the ticket to someone else on your table for them to claim the next prize, or gave the next prize itself to your bowls opponent ..... not sure that still happens these days though as I do remember seeing some people, more recently with large numbers of prizes).
What an amazing invite!

Looks like a marvelous lunch! ♥ :)

I have to be honest - I am not a game person, never have been, never will be. I'm the person at parties that when someone suggest a game, inside I'm like "Ugh....." But it does look like you had a fun time with your friends.

Dearest Tammy,
Don't know about you but I had to smile as you were the only non-exotic looking lady. Not that you don't look exotic but I mean foreign born... I've been in such a situation so often and I always loved being the only blue-eyed 'native'.
What your photos also conveyed to me is the fragrance of the delicious Indian foods... I only have to close my eyes and imagine it. Love the way the dried and fresh fruits got arranged!
Makes me happy as I LOVE this kind of food.
Hugs,
Mariette

What a wonderful group and such fun! Look at that gorgeous spread of food too! I was just looking up a recipe for Dal Makhani yesterday and seeing if I could get the ingredients to make it. It is an Indian dish....did you have any of that? It's supposed to be delicious and healthy if you leave out all the butter and cream! LOL! My daughter and SIL cook a lot of Indian dishes since they have Indian friends but they also have an Indian grocery store which I do not have but I have Amazon....thank goodness! LOL! I wish I could have been there. What a great bunch of women friends you have!
