Stages of a Wildflower

Man has created some lovely dwellings, some soul-stirring literature. He has done much to alleviate physical pain. But he has not ... created a substitute for a sunset, a grove of pines, the music of the winds, the dank smell of the deep forest, or the shy beauty of a wildflower.
(Harvey Broome)
In October I planted a packet of wildflower seed mix and, although it took months for flowers to appear, there's been a continuous variety of blooms ever since.  In fact, something completely new recently popped up and I'm looking forward to seeing what it becomes.  Since I unfortunately threw away the seed packet after planting, I have no idea what was in the mix.
All of these images were taken today representing the life stages of this pretty little pale pink wildflower.

Who would have thought it possible that a tiny little flower could preoccupy a person so completely that there simply wasn't room for any other thought.

I think it may be a scabious Tammy, but not sure.
I can understand how that flower filled your time, I am so in love with the trees at the moment, every time I go out I can't get over the beauty of the buds bursting and the beautiful new green everywhere.
This happens every year and at 71 years old I never tired of it and hope I never shall be. Nature is everything to me.

So pretty and I thank you for sharing with us. The miracle of a seed to a flower or vegetable or tree, never fails to amaze me.

I've planted some wildflowers too but there's nothing much to see yet just a few green shoots but they could be weeds!

Beautiful! I love wildflowers. I never would have thought to pack a seed packet of them in a pot like that. I think you've given me an idea :)

Loved the quote so much! I adore wildflowers!

There is true JOY in seeing flowers as they grow from seeds right on thru blooms. I planted wildflowers when we first moved here but forest trees and debris have taken over. I still stop to see a flower. <3

Can you even imagine a world without flowers? They're the accessories in the world's ensemble.

The white one is alyssum and I think the pink one is cornflower. Perhaps you can google them to find out for sure? They're very pretty anyway.

hmmmm.....maybe I will think about this flower when I wake in the middle of the night. Especially if it leaves no room for any other thoughts! It's beautiful and I can't wait for flowers to start appearing in my part of the world!

I never thought of putting wildflower sees in a pot....duh! I guess I always felt you had to broadcast them in a field somewhere! I'm going to go see if I have any tucked away! So pretty!

What a lovely thing to do. It's made me want to find a bud in my garden and watch it carefully!

Once they start to unfurl the buds do open very quickly don't they? Such a lovely, delicate little flower:)

Pretty pink cornflower. :) With the full emergence of consistently warm spring weather here now, everything is growing and I have to be careful not to weed too much or else to pull up the unknown wildflowers that grow in my garden. Planning the vegetable garden now and awaiting a giant dump drunk of soil soon to fill in the raised garden area. It will be constant non-stop yard work now from here on out, but like you, I love that, and it adds so much to my already 5 mile per day runs/power walks. Soon, I'll be so skinny, I'll blow away in the winds (which constantly blow like a hurricane in this part of the country, lol).

Have a great week!
Linda

Great opening quote and I heartily agree with it. Wildflowers and wild herbs are rapidly becoming my latest passion and I really appreciate them now more than I ever have.

Thanks for joining in with us for Five on Friday and please excuse my lateness in getting round to comment this week!

I m going to do a pot of wildflower seeds too, how fun! The pink flower is a bachelor button, sometimes called cornflower.
