Man has created some lovely dwellings, some soul-stirring literature. He has done much to alleviate physical pain. But he has not ... created a substitute for a sunset, a grove of pines, the music of the winds, the dank smell of the deep forest, or the shy beauty of a wildflower.
In October I planted a packet of wildflower seed mix and, although it took months for flowers to appear, there's been a continuous variety of blooms ever since. In fact, something completely new recently popped up and I'm looking forward to seeing what it becomes. Since I unfortunately threw away the seed packet after planting, I have no idea what was in the mix.
All of these images were taken today representing the life stages of this pretty little pale pink wildflower.
Who would have thought it possible that a tiny little flower could preoccupy a person so completely that there simply wasn't room for any other thought.
