Crafting on a Gray Day

It's ironic that on Wednesday I had a conversation with one of my craft group friends about the fact that we hadn't had a dust storm in quite some time.
Perhaps it's actually better not to talk about such things.
We awoke to a gray morning and the dust arrived this afternoon.
Because of the weather, our plans to meet at The Secret Garden for our crafty morning had to be changed, so we met at a coffee shop instead.
One of our newest members brought a lovely homemade saffron cake to share.
Three crocheters and three knitters at this morning's meeting.
Although there were garden activities planned this afternoon, I wasn't too keen on being out in dusty, windy weather, so stayed home cozy on the couch with Jingles instead.

Happy Caturday!

Sorry that those dreaded dust storms ruined your plans, although I bet it was comfortable in the cafe with a lovely water view. I was wondering what the project was of your friend with the long strings of chain. Enjoy your cozy home time. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

What a Spring all over it seems or whatever season it is in your part of the world...Fall? Look at all that good coffee and cake and projects! Oh, how I wish I could join you! I keep meaning to look up and see if there can be conference Skypes? We used to have video conferences where I worked with people from all over the world so wouldn't it be fun if we could have a craft group that met like that? I cozied up with Miss Peeps too this afternoon and she's learning to leave my yarn alone but I dare not leave the her in the room alone with it! LOL! Have a wonderful weekend!

Definitely better not to talk about bad weather because then it comes ;). But you had a great morning: good company and tasty cake! As long as you are with the right persons, you will always enjoy your time, regardless the place and the weather.

Dust storms?
Oh no! You thought too loudly and jinxed it! :-)
At least you still got out and how lovely to see everyone's handcrafts and that saffron cake looks delicious.
May your forced indoor time be brief.
Cheers!

Drat that Dust!!! Your weather had been so gorgeous. Spending time with Jingles sounds much better that being out in dust. Craft along...

I have been so enjoying your photos of the beautiful weather. I suppose you were long overdue for a duststorm weren't you? Your crafty time in the café looks like it was a lot of fun and you even had cake! I am sorry you missed the garden though. I know how much it means to you. Have a lovely Sunday my friend.
Blessings, Betsy

So sorry your original plans didn't occur, Tammy, but at least you had an alternative plan and good time. Wondering---do you both knit and crochet? Wondering if the two go hand in hand for some.

The dust is a shame. When you go out in a dust storm do you need to wear a cloth mask or something so you won't inhale it? I know...I'm not too informed. Just wondering. ;-D

Hi Tammy, What a shame that you couldn't meet in The Secreat Garden. The coffee shop with that lovely water view was a nice alternative though. Staying on the couch with Jingles sounds wonderful too. Hopefully the storm is gone and you can enjoy some hours in the garden soon.

Everyone here has been saying, "we're in March, the bad weather is behind us." And I keep saying, "we've had snow storms in March before! I remember one year on the Monday before Easter we got several inches of snow." Well....snow storm of 3-5 inches due tomorrow. Bummer

Hello Tammy. Well, it sounds like you made the best of a difficult situation. I have to say that I have never heard of saffron cake. Saffron is terribly expensive here. Take care and hope you have a good week. Susan

Dearest Tammy,
I think it' a good idea to meet indoors with your friends and to have a nice cake (mmmmmmmm!) and to have a cosy time with Jingles instead of garden-working in the sandsorm ... ;-)
Lots of hugs, Traude

Th saffron cake looks delicious, what a wonderful way to spend a bad weather day- we are back to some pretty cold temperatures here for a bit-but can't complain no winter here this year.

YOur yarn group sounds wonderful Tammy. I used to have a group but we all disbanded as life took over. Maybe when I retire? Hope the dust did not get everywhere.

Sorry you're experiencing the dust storms again. :(
Nice to see you making the best of life regardless. :)

We have a little snow here in Central Illinois this morning, but not too bad. This morning's dark commute (due to the time change) was rough - pretty slippery since no plows had been out, which I never understand being that it's so late in the season and due to the mild winter we had, they hardly had to use any salt - so I'm not sure what they're waiting for. Anyways, by mid-morning now though the roads and sidewalks appear wet and it's actually pretty out with the light snow falling and not accumulating much.
