Mishref Morning

After a quick stop this morning at The Secret Garden to feed the stray kitties, pick up garbage, add my scraps to the compost pile, and water plants, I headed over to the Mishref Walking Path.

While most of the country suffers from lack of space and parking, Mishref is a lovely residential area with a nice, big main road with a median.  And because it's a residential area, it's maintained more than commercial or apartment areas.
It also happens to be one of the greener spots in Kuwait.
This is the first time I've actually been to to this walking path.  Since we have a small one by our house, my husband prefers to just head out the door to it rather than driving to a different one as he feels that is just defeating the purpose of walking.
But now that I have time, and free mornings, I am determined to explore more.
And of course, I can't just stay on the path.  I have to wander.
Kuwait celebrates National Day on February 25th and Liberation Day on February 26th each year which is depicted on the archways along the path that light up at night.  I took a picture of the 26 reflected on the ground.  When that date rolls around in February of 2016, I will celebrate my 50th birthday.  Seems so very strange to say.  Age sure is a funny thing.
I called it quits after 45 minutes because of the high humidity but am definitely looking forward to getting out there again, especially when the weather is cooler.

Hope your day is a good one.

Hi Tammy! I enjoyed seeing some of what you saw on your wanderings. I am glad that the sand storm has passed, but sorry that you are having such high humidity...not my favorite weather either. The green neighborhood is very pretty. While our neighborhood is green year round we are on a country roadway with no sidewalks, so we end up hopping into our car to go for a walk...I can appreciate your husband's viewpoint, but also yours :) xx

Mishref looks lovely with all of those trees. I love the tree lined pathways especially when it's hot! Today ended up warmer than they predicted here and that sun felt hot on my lunchtime hour walk, but thank goodness most of my walk has tree lined sidewalks - not so much on campus where they seem to plant the trees away from the paths, which never makes much sense to me.

Yes, 50 - that was me last November and it seemed so strange and everyone kept telling me, it's the best time of my life, and you know what - this past year has ended up being that for me healthwise, I'm back to my skinny girl self. The person I was most all of my life except for the past 10 years or so and feel better than ever. So now this fall I will turn 51 and it doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. I look at my parents - Dad will be 90 in November and Mom is 85 and they're both amazing, even though they both complain about their old age. They are still amazing because they do so much at their age - you should see their lovely home and yard and they basically do it all, except for the times when they need a little bit of our help, which we gladly give. They are my role models when it comes to age.

Have a nice evening or morning, whenever you read this.
Linda

What a wonderful new to you path to explore. Lovely photos with such interesting lines and numbers. I am sort of like your husband with the why drive in order to take a walk. I usually like to blend errands in with my walking from driving. Enjoying your days...Priceless!

Dearest Tammy,
Oh, my feeding the stray kitties, that must be heart breaking in a way... WHY oh why are there so many people out there that don't seem to care for their pets?!
You have discovered quite a little paradise, it looks indeed so lush and I would love to walk there as well, poking my nose into everything what's growing there.
Enjoy what you're doing and know one thing, you're still young!
Hugs,
Mariette

I'm so glad you found a new and pretty place to walk. I admire you so much for feeding the feral kitties. We actually have a poor male cat that is living under our deck. Our DIL said he was here last year with a big wound, he's still alive but is very skinny. She is feeding him hoping to get him some weight on. I hope he makes it. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Dearest Tammy,
this looks like a WONDERFUL walking path!
And it's nice that you also visited "your" kitties and plants! :o)
50 is "no age" my dear! ;o)) Most of the time I really like it to be 50+.
Lots of hugs from Austria,
Traude

I'm so glad you're having a good time now that you aren't working my longer and can take walks and find new exciting places to show us. The green space is so pretty and vibrant looking. Thank you for sharing the information about Kuwait. 50 isn't so bad Tammy. I'll be 56 in February and I feel every moment of it this year. :-).
Blessings always,

Lovely area to walk in and great photo of the 26th. 50 was a big turning point for me when I really noticed my aging, of course I had some illnesses too that hurried it along and changed lots of things. Aging is truly as adventure in my mind and I'm so glad I don't have a big ego or it might be more difficult...I'm sure it's hard for those who have revolved their lives around their physical attractiveness like movie stars. But for me it's a laugh a minute! As long as I remain healthy and strong I am enjoying it tremendously! You don't look anywhere near 50! I think you might be blessed with eternal youth....me? I was born old! LOL!
