First Stop

My old stomping ground of New Orleans.
Before coming to Kuwait in 1994, I worked downtown at a law firm for several years.  It's where I met Angela and we have remained steadfast friends ever since.   Although she and her family were displaced after Hurricane Katrina and moved to Ohio for awhile, she and her husband returned to their roots, unable to imagine living anywhere else.
We had a great weekend of food and merriment, walking the city and catching up.

And I just love her sweet little poodle, Peaches.  Her left paw has been deformed since birth but that hasn't stopped her from bouncing all over the place.  She is the teeniest, cutest little thing.
I worked in New Orleans but lived in Slidell and commuted every day to work.  Angela is actually the only person I am in touch with from that period of my life so I find it quite ironic that all these years later, I meet a blog friend on and offline who lives in Slidell.
Next we head there for a visit with Val.

Sometimes you meet a person and you just click, you're comfortable with them, and you don't have to pretend to be anyone or anything.

Happy weekend!

How fun to visit your longtime friend and do the sights and sounds of New Orleans. I haven't been since Katrina. It is quite the unique place with so much varied history. Travel Bliss...

Great pictures Tammy! I've never been to New Orleans although I've always wanted to visit. Teresa's pictures earlier this summer also showed the city in a wonderful way. So much fun to connect with old friends. I'm looking forward to the updates on the rest of your trip.
Blessings,
Betsy

We both have enjoyed our travels! I have not been to New Orleans and am not keen on a hot and humid climate, but visiting a friend would make the trip worthwhile, no matter the weather, and I am interested to know this is an area where you have worked and near members of your family as well. I hope you have a good weekend, too, Tammy.

It looks like a fascinating place. Love the street art and the brick, stucco and wrought iron!

How fun to meet up with old friends and blog friends too. :)

I never knew this about you---I love New Orleans. Well...hubby and I visited only once but we just had a wonderful time and plan to go back.

It's hard to maintain friendships from afar. I think the ones we revisit are meant to be. I love the picture of you both and T---you are a twig!!!

I hope to get around more--my arm is just terrible. Icing it after typing. Not a great practice.

Dearest Tammy,
Sounds like you had a very meaningful first stop!
Such friendships will last, regardless the distance and it is wonderful for refueling our soul from time to time.
Anxious to read your next chapter. We too met with several of my blogger friends in Michigan and in Toronto during our last trip on June 3-9.
Sending you hugs and blessings,
Mariette

Hi Tammy! I so enjoyed looking at the photos you took in NOLA! Muriel's restaurant was right below the room we stayed in at Place d'Armes! I'm glad you had fun in LA with your friends. I sure wish we could have connected up while you were here. Maybe next time! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
