Lessons From the Cat

Cats can be cooperative when something feels good,
which, to a cat, is the way everything
is supposed to feel as much of the time as possible.
(Roger Caras)
Jingles sure knows how to enjoy her time.  After days of haze and drizzle and gray, the sun was out and she was basking in it, soaking it up. In fact, she held that last position for at least a couple of hours. Even after the sun went down, she was still there, enjoying the weather, listening to the birds and just simply being in the moment.
We could all learn something from a cat.
Unfortunately, food needs to be cooked, clothes and dishes need to be washed, things need to be cleaned and organized and tidied at home, work needs to be done ... it's a never ending cycle, one that I can't seem to get a handle on.

On Saturday I did get to spend a lovely couple of hours with one of my very best friends who treated me to a late birthday lunch.  We enjoyed trying out a new restaurant that I discovered via Instagram.  I had quinoa salad with roasted pumpkin and avocado which was really delicious.
Weekends are great!  But it's the weekdays where time is lacking.  Days never are quite long enough for everything I want to do.
My second post is up on The Moksi Homes if you would like to take a look here.  Sadly, just after Maureen started the new website, her father passed away and she had to plan a memorial service long distance, return to Amsterdam and, of course, deal with all that comes along with a death in the family.  She was thrown off course for a while but is slowly trying to get back into the routine of things.  So if you have a chance, please stop by The Moksi Homes and say hello.

I do appreciate each and every one of you who visit and leave comments.  I know time is valuable and the fact that you spend some of it with me is much appreciated.
Have a wonderful day!

I've never had a cat of my own but I enjoy them and I always like to see what the bloggy cats are up to. :)

Just look at Jingles soak it all in! Yes, we could learn something form her... Today feels like spring, but winter weather forecasted for tomorrow. Better get the coats out again.

Jingles definitely has the right idea. We have beautiful blue skies today and I even heard some birds singing when I was outside earlier. Life does tend to hurry us along. I'll have to remember Jingles when I feel that pressure building.
Blessings,
Betsy

Too true we could all learn from a cat, they just live a life that looks so stress free! And all cats know it's good to soak up some sun!

oh Jingles is just the sweetest little creature. It makes me miss my little fur ball so much... I don't think I've ever seen a cat sunbathe like that... just adorable. Our weather continues to be crazy nut-so.. freezing one day ad then 75F, like today...but another winter storm is on its way, so who knows anymore!!! have a good week Tammy. well what's left of it!

Jingles looks so cute! I can't wait to have that same sense of joy and satisfaction when it finally warms up here. I was able to open the windows a little bit yesterday and today and my two cats got pretty interested in sniffing the fresh air, but we're getting 6 inches of snow tomorrow. Sigh.

I often eat quinoa for lunch. I put plain quinoa into a bowl, add nuts and dried fruit, and sprinkle on a little of my homemade salad dressing. I used to think I had to make a big bowlful of quinoa salad following a specific recipe, but then realized it was easier to do it this way.

Oh yes, Tammy, I totally agree with you that we can all learn something from cats. Honey Cat is 20 years old now and the vet said one thing is keeping her alive------"love." Ha! Guess we can learn from that, too! Susan

I sure do miss my cat Lucy. You're lucky to have your fur kid. I'm glad you had a good weekend even if you had to take care of domestic duties. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I miss our cats too. Over the years we've had many. But our last two, Figgy and Manana were the best ever. However, grandchildren are highly allergic..so cats had to find new homes. But I miss them and their individual attitudes.

Love the pictures of yours, and lunch looks really good.

Dearest Tammy,
Love that Quinoa salad, looks yummy aside from being so healthy and complete.
Oh sure, if we would have servants like our cats, we could live like that but as you said, the cycle is never ending. Having been on a trip is even worse as you get punished for your absense and need to catch up.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Tammy

I have missed few of our posts. Lately, with exams going on, its a whirlwind kind of a day. Few more days... rather months... my elder in 12th grade :)
As you said, its upto us what we want to learn from our environment. See... cats are carefree and make the most of their good times....

Good you got a a lil treat, a lil change from the routine with your friend.

Great day Tammy

I like your photos and sentiments. I seem to have too much time on my hands most days and suffer from boredom sometimes. For this reason, I'm always looking for something to do, and our two cats are kind of like that. I was amazed to see that Jingles (so cute) would sit like that for hours. Our cats, Butters and Lucy, are constantly moving about, following us and meowing. They're very demanding and gripey, which is sort of like me at times, LOL. Maybe that's why I picked them! ;)
At any rate, there is no school today due to blowing snow and a power outage because of that and Jim and I are both working from home today as well because the roads are just too bad to venture out on right now. It will be short lived though, with warm temps back in the forecast for the next several days - so the 2 inches of snow that we received will be melted probably by tomorrow.

Hope you're having a wonderful day.

Sweet little Jingles!! I hope you are enjoying lovely weather now after your sand storm today. That restaurant looks like an excellent place for a birthday lunch. I'm sorry about your blog friend and her family. Sending good thoughts.

Well,, I owe Jingles an apology! For some reason, I thought "his" name was "Mr. Jingles." I beg your pardon, Ms. Jingles!

Your birthday lunch looks wonderful! That Jingles is one smart kitty! I must be a cat, because I want/expect everything to just be that way too. Lol Now…do I go do laundry, or read my book while listening to the rain? Humm...
