Back from Koblenz

We are back from our 4-day trip to Koblenz, a 2,000+ year old German city situated where the Rhine and Mosel Rivers meet.
The hotel Contel Koblenz, located directly at the river Mosel and in walking distance of the old city, is where we stayed.
And while we had hoped to experience cooler weather, as it turns out, August brought a heat wave to the area.  Temperatures reached up to 37 during the day and evenings were muggy rather than mild.  The hotel did not have air conditioning so nights were a little sticky to say the least.
Still, since there was lots of sunshine and no rain the first few days, we were able to do lots ...
and lots of walking.
Enjoying the scenery and flowers along the way.
We saw lots of lovely old buildings ...
 did some shopping ...
and required lots of refreshment.
Walking in the heat was easier than getting anyone to agree to have their picture taken ...
or to take a picture for me.
Now it is back to a regular routine.  Ramadan is over so things go back to normal here.  Time to tackle the laundry and play catch up.

Hope all is well where you are.

Lovely pictures....so glad you had a wonderful vacation.

Your family is adorable! I had to laugh when I saw the expressions on your son's faces...I could almost here them all the way over here say, "Really Mom, again?" Teen-agers crack me up.

I know it will take a while to recover from vacation but once you do....we are having a CAL over on my blog is you want to jump in....just saying. :)

Blessings always

Hi Tammy! Koblenz is just 30mins away from my place! We could have met somewhere! I hope you had a nice trip and enjoyed it here. It is still very hot, which is not common for our region. I really hope it will cool down a bit soon.
Have a nice day! xxBarbina

Ah, teenagers! You'd think you'd asked them to stand on their heads!

NICE pic of you and Sam, by the way.

I like Germany. It's quite lovely with the varied building styles and the food is delish! I see you were partaking in a cool beverage.....don't you love how BIG the glasses are over there?

No A/C? Yikes...were you a puddle?

Glad you went and had a nice time. Sorry about the laundry thing. Seems to be the natural progression, huh?

Hugs my friend!

Hi Tammy,

Welcome home! ♥

I see you enjoyed some nice tall refreshments while in Germany! :) Good for you!

I enjoyed seeing your photos and reading a little about your trip. Sounds nice. I had to chuckle with your comment about the boys and their lack of enthusiasm for having their photo taken. Girls are completely different - Sarah is all too eager to photograph and be photographed. :)

Glad you enjoyed a nice time away and I hope the start of your school year goes great!

Love, Linda

Hello Tammy Just catching up on your posts....I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your trip to Germany, it reminded me of visits to friends there, all the lovely old buildings, and delicious glasses of German wine and beer! Your little roses cross stitching in the previous post is so pretty! Wishing you a happy week!

What a great trip. I would love to go there. My husband was born in Germany (air base) and he wants to go so bad. We just haven't jumped in and planned it.

Wow nice photos. You seem to have traveled all over the globe. Lucky you. I do wish to travel to Germany at least once as in my teens I had lots of pen friends from there.

Dearest Tammy,
Glad you had four special days as a family together. Koblenz, that did bring back immediately fond memories of Thé Vedder, the brother that just passed away. We took a very nice vacation together in the Eifel in Germany and with our German friends we went to Koblenz.
Did you also climb up the road to Castle Stolzenfelz?
Hugs to you,
Mariette

What a coincidence. My husband and I have been talking lately about the trips we made a couple of years ago to Germany. We did a mini Rhine cruise taking in Koblenz. We loved it, we also visited Rudesheim, Cochem and Boppart. Did you get to any of those places? You were certainly a long way away from home weren't you?

I don't care for Facebook either and much prefer blogging but I do love my iPhone especially for the FaceTime which allows me to actually see my sister when I talk to her. That's very special!

How lovely to getaway for a mini-vacation!! Pretty pics! Such a pity the weather wasn't a little cooler tho. I know all too well the hot, sticky summer nights without air-con.

Glad you're home safe and sound ~ xo

Oh, if your boys aren't somethin'! LOL! Handsome but I remember those teen years...I was trying to see if there was some military boot camp I could send mine to until they were about 30! LOL! Your sons look very smart though. Mine unfortunately took after their Father...Ha! Ha! The picture of you and your husband is darling! What a lovely couple you are and you never age! The beer looks REALLY good too as I just came in from watering and it got up to 97 today...I'm tired of this heat. I'm ready for Fall and cool temps and warm fires. Does it ever get cool in Kuwait or is it always "Summer". I'm glad you got a vacation/holiday before school starts. It's always good to get away...it makes you appreciate home when you get back. Thanks for sharing your lovely family and vacation pictures with us.

Tammy, you are such a blessing. I love reading the chronicles of your world travels. What a bold and creative life you live! :-)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. Kindergarten is a big shift for me. I am staying hours after school each day. I am a home body, but realized today, I've hardly been home this week! I really love this grade level so far, but boy is it a lot of work! So much prep and trying to anticipate which directions will need extra explanation and practice... wow!

Sounds like you used to have a fabulous kindergarten class. You are right. When you care a lot, you give a lot. And you are a very caring person! Thank you for being you :-)

Ahh...my world traveller gas returned! I honestly see more of the world through your photos then I do with my own eyes.

Love the buildings...you must have had fun doing a little shopping. Are you going to show us what you bought...souveniers?

Ciao bella.

Thats the best thing I love to do in a new country exploring...WALKING! I love exploring every little detail. What can you say about boys. If its not a life threatening or thrill seeking activity, its considered boring. Your beers looked very refreshing...you earned it.
