Days Are Flying By

Since my friend, Mona, arrived from Lebanon last week, there has not been a whole lot of time for crafting, but since Friday was a quiet day at home, I did manage a little rose stitching using yarn on 8 count aida. My plan was to make a pillow for her, but I wasn't happy with the outcome.  The cotton I used for the pink part sort of separated and flattened out which made for very messy stitches.
There has been a lot of baking, gift giving and visiting over the past several days.
On Saturday, the girls came over to my place for a few hours.  And on Sunday night we went out for coffee.  I was able to put together gift bags for everyone with all the projects I've completed over the summer.  It's nice to finally be able to do something with all the stuff I keep making.
Both times we got together, Elena's youngest daughter, Jana, was with us.  She learned to walk about a month ago and is constantly moving.  Here she is waving bye-bye as we all got up to leave.
Yesterday turned out to be another quiet day, so I did a simple rose cross-stitching and added a quote:  A single rose can be my garden, a single friend, my world.

Whenever Mona visits, I like to make up for all the time we are apart, and all the times I'm not able to give her gifts.  We spent a few hours today just sitting together and chatting.  The timing of her trip was perfect since Thursday night, we take off for a short family vacation, and she heads back home on Friday.

Days are flying by and the end of summer is drawing ever nearer.  In 12 short days, I will be back at work.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

Jana is adorable. How nice that you were able to enjoy this time with your friends and to share your lovely gifts of your talents with them. :)

Hope you enjoy a wonderful trip.

Believe it or not, I'm sort of feeling ready for the summer to be done now and for fall to eventually get here. The weather here has cooled off tremendously. Only in Illinois is it 100 one day and 60 the next, but that's basically what it's done. It feels very fallish, even if the calendar does still show August.

Sarah is already amid her band mates in the marching band camp this week again, and school begins on the 21st, just one week from today. Of course for me, I work all year, except for numerous vacations, so work is pretty much as it always is, except in a matter of just a few days the campus where I work will be filled with 40,000 students. A stark change to the peace and quiet that we enjoy here during the summer months.

Take care,
Linda

Boy, we really need to meet up more often. Don't talk about work:P I feel summer has went by too fast. I'm hoping to meet up with Mona before she leaves. You are gonna enjoy Germany. You need a good 10 days in any new country to explore and enjoy without rushing. I'm sure you'll make good use of your time.

How wonderful getting time to spend with your friend. I know how it is with long distance, but when you get together its like no time has past. Such a treasure. You gifts to all your friends are treasures as well, I'm sure. The cross stitches are beautiful. I'm just starting a Fall Angel cross stitch with Stitchy McFloss. Such joy in making things and even more joy in giving and receiving the hand made. Blessings to your day.

Cherished visits from friends is so very appreciated, especially when you live so far away from them. It means mountains to me, when anyone comes to visit me here in Texas, and especially when I used to live in Mexico.
Muffins look delicious.

Love your stitching! Have you tried the 11 count with floss? I am using the 11 count now, the 14 count makes eyes go blurry, and that's even with glasses on! :)

The picture of Jana is so cute. I love it when kids are at this stage and they are all full of smiles. So sweet. :)

Your friends look so happy...but of course they are, they are your friends. :)

Enjoy the last of your summer days before you head back to school.

Blessings always

Dearest Tammy,

At least the rose pattern is a lovely one, if not the red thread...
How wonderful that you all are lapping up on great friendship-time spent together. One never knows how long we've to be on a friendship-diet. I certainly can relate to that one!
Enjoy your short 12 days ahead...

It is so nice to know that some things don't ever change. What a lovely treat to see the four of your girls together. Other than the fact that your hair is so long (and looks amazing!!!) everyone looks exactly the the same as I remember them. I miss you guys a ton, and wish I could have a cup of coffee with that exact same group of wonderful women!! Jana is adorable, and looks like a bundle of energy. Good thing Elena has some much energy herself and is able to keep up with her. He, he!!

Have a great time in Germany. Let's keep talking about a way for you, Melissa and I to see each other

XOXO
Renee
