A Quiet Start

Happy Friday everyone!

One week back at school is over and the weekend has arrived. I made biscuits this morning so that I could try out the Fig and Ginger Jam I bought the other day. It brought back memories of my Mammaw who used to make the best fig preserves and my Aunt Dot who made the most scrumptious homemade biscuits and gravy. I cheated though and used Bisquick for the biscuits.

Although it was already well above 100 degrees, I opened up the balcony and went out to water weeds and wildflowers.

Jingles is always happy when that door opens. She loves being outside.

But she is not very happy when the door closes and she is still out there.

My girlfriend Melissa stopped by with homemade banana cake so I had to try it right away. Yummo! Delicious with a cup of ginger tea.

For the rest of the day, crochet is at the top of my list of things to do. I will only clean what needs to be cleaned and cook what needs to be cooked.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Happy to hear you first week back to school went well. Now, if we could just get the temp to drop for you. Fall is here in the air of the midwest. I can just feel it and smell it. The days are getting shorter and the humidity is out of the air. And I'm thinking about orange...so it must be.

Weekend Wishes,
Kate

Dearest Tammy,

Looks yummy to me as well. Poor Jingles as she's on the balcony alone. She must be a great companion as she loves to be with you!

Dear Tammy

Sounds like my perfect day!
Minimun housework and more "me" time.

Your biscuits with the ginger jam - look more like our scones. Are they soft or crisp?
Would you share your recipe with me dear Tammy??

Keep as cool as you possibly can and have a wonderful weekend!

Shane :)

It was good to stop by and see you even if for only a few minutes. Always feels so cozy inside your place and QUIET! Something I actually got a little bit of today when the kids went to their cousins...only Lily kept me company and she fell asleep for a good hour when I got back from yours. The weather was actually quite nice for being over 100. I'm happy as long as there is no dust.
Those crocheted thingys are adorable. I want some...LOL! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and greetings to Gwen.

Love Melissa

Tammy, I had a Mamaw who was a wonder with the figs that grew in her back yard! And, my Aunt Dot was one of the best cooks I have ever known. We share similar happy memories. =) I know your biscuits and fig and ginger jam were wonderful! Lovin' the colors of those squares! blessings ~ tanna

Yum...your biscuits and fig/ginger jam look delicious. I do like figs. I make a wonderful salad with fresh figs I grill (got the idea from "The Girl and The Fig" restaurant in Sonoma California. That banana bread looks good too. Happy crocheting Tammy...

Ooh, Jingles is a sweetie! That's amazing she does so well in 100 degree heat. Isn't it funny how they don't like closed doors? Mine are the same way but it's with the inside doors since they don't go outside. Close a door and they'll be sticking their paws underneath and just waiting until it opens again! Have a great week, Tammy!

I have known you for YEARS now, and still call Jingles a "he". I should know better than that. It still makes me smile to see your pictures of him in all his feline glory.
How cool that you have such nice memories of the jam your mawmaw used to make. My mom used to make raspberry jam and blackcap jam. To this day, they are the only two jams that I like.
Hope you got enough crochet work done to add a bit of relaxation to the end of a busy week!

Love you,
Renee
