Tea on Tuesday

While walking the tea plantation where we stayed in Sri Lanka, we met up with these lovely ladies at the end of their work day.

This is where they gather after they've picked their tea leaves. A large hanging scale is used to weigh what they've brought in from the fields.

"The first tea bushes of commercial quantity were planted in Sri Lanka by James Taylor, at Loolecondera Estate in Lower Hewaheta in the Kandy district, in 1867. Since then, following the coffee blight in the mid 1800s, all of the coffee which was grown in the mid and high grown district has been replaced with tea." (forbesteaportal.com)

My favorite treat at the end of the day is a cup of tea and dark chocolate. This pairing is Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate and Ginger along with Celestial Seasonings Antioxidant Supplement Green Tea. No day is complete without a little treat.

Sending blessings your way for a bright and beautiful day. Tammy

Dearest Tammy,

So you too love dark chocolate. Yes, it doesn't take much for going to heaven for a moment of bliss. We've walked between tea plants in India and Indonesia, high in the mountains. It is fascinating to see the beginnings of such a wonderful cup of tea... About the antioxidants that is so true. Tea is the second most used beverage after water and yet, more people ought to discover its values! My post of today I've made the photos right before having my cup of tea; daily ritual at our home.

Lots of love,

Mariette

I love that your post took us back to Sri Lanka this morning. I feel like I learn so much by reading your blog. I have never put any thought into making tea, but honestly did not realize that the leaves are picked by hand. Incredible. I loved the pictures of fields filled with nothing but tea plants. Makes me want to be back in Honoeye right now looking at open fields...

Love ya,
Renee

Apparently, a piece of chocolate and a cup of tea is a very popular combo. You are the third person who likes the combination, which was unheard of for me. I love tea, and I love chocolate. I should try them together!! :o)
have a lovely day!

Very interesting tour, Tammy. I'm sure those ladies who pick the tea leaves work long hours. God bless them. I drink lots of green tea, mixing it with raspberry and/or peach to kill the taste. ha! Susan

You towered over those ladies Tammy! What a sweet photo....a treasure for sure. LOVE the one with the rolling field of tea. It's so striking!

Chocolate and tea....or just about anything is the perfect ending to the day. I hope YOUR day is a beautiful one, my friend!

Company leaves Sunday, so it'll be pretty quiet around here next week.

Hugs,
Jan
