Food, Glorious Food!

Exactly one week ago today, we were having a delicious dinner at The Lavender House in Sri Lanka.

Hubby ordered a chicken roll filled with dates and cashews that sat atop parsley potatoes.

I had fish that was cooked in a banana leaf and served with salad.

All meals were selected from set menus that changed daily. Choice of soup or an appetizer, entrees of either fish, chicken or beef and two types of desserts.

The first nite we ordered a pumpkin soup.

And the second night it was cream of vegetable. Both served with amazing rolls and quite delicious.

The boys ordered steak both evenings (which I did not take pictures of). I was too caught up in my own food to think about anyone else's. The first night I ordered Tuna Mornay with roasted tomato and parsley potatoes.

The presentation was outstanding and the portion sizes were just right. A 3-course meal that did not leave you feeling stuffed.

Our first dessert was a sticky toffee pudding served with hot custard, toffee and whipped cream.

I took this picture after I had savored every delicious bite. In fact, my oldest son exclaimed that this would be the meal he would request as his last meal. The whole evening was a food lover's delight.

Just behind the door on the right, was a wine cellar.

My choice for the evening was a South African Sauvignon Blanc. A perfect accompaniment to a scrumptious meal!

We were all truly impressed with the food that was offered at this wonderful hideaway. The few pounds I gained on the trip was certainly worth it.

Sending Sunday blessings your way for a most beautiful day. Best wishes, Tammy

Goodness Tammy how fun to get to discover such interesting new dishes like this! Banana peel- who would have ever thought to wrap fish in it!

Nice seeing you and your family eating around the table- so many don't do that these days!

You are making me hungry!! This all looks so amazing. What a wonderful experience to stay at such a unique place instead of your usual hotel. It looks like a very special place to be, and the food looks just amazing. Certainly worth putting on a few pounds...
