Finding Inspiration

The world is but a canvas to the imagination. — Henry David Thoreau

Yesterday on the way home I passed this gorgeous red and black car and just had to snap a picture. The bougainvillea blooming above is so pretty.

We were asked at the Yarn & Fiber Group last week to try and come up with some items we can display at the Exhibition to take place in May. Traditional Sadu colors are black, red and white, so I whipped up this little crochet pillow with cross-stitch motif. I plan to make several more and then will present them at the next meeting.

While visiting Beth at Gathering Dust yesterday, I was inspired to make some hearts.

The blue and white one is just stitched together and stuffed with lavender. But I decided to get creative on the second one. I've been saying forever and a day that I will embroider. Problem is, I have little patience for following directions or patterns. So, I just traced a heart, put the material in a hoop and stitched a design freehand. I put stuffing in this one with a just a bit of lavender. Zack said it turned out nice but that the lavender stinks. HA!

I will definitely be making more as they are so easy and certainly don't need to be perfect. Thanks, Beth, for the inspiration!

I cannot count my day complete
'Til needle, thread and fabric meet.

That's lovely, I love that photo of the old car and the flowers along the wall. Very cool. Our creativity for the day was a bit of a walk at a nearby lake (more like a large pond, lol) and art of the photographic kind, which is the favorite source of creativity for both daughter and I. :)

Hope you have a great week. We have Spring break in just 5 days and we're going on vacation - to Gulf Shores, Alabama, where we've rented a beach condo - literally right on the shore - for the week. :)

I think your embroidery and the other projects look very nice. I always wished I was good at embroidery--the finer work. I used to do crewel and that kind of thing. Your birthday meal looks delicious! Belated happy birthday!

Honey I love those hearts....so neat that you can just see something and then create it. How creative is that and your pillow is lovely too.
I like the idea of the lavender too.
Been thinking about you wondering if you were okay. There is so much going on I worry sometimes about you..
Take care and have a great week
Love
Maggie

Hi Tammy, thanks for the visit.. You are right about the frogging difference between knit and crochet...one of the reasons I switched years ago, seeing as how I have to FROG so much, it might as well be easier no? Love that old car,
how nostalgic...and it looks to be in wonderful condition. Your fabric work looks great...cross stich and crochet it works well.

Have a wonderful day filled with more beauty and amazement....to fill your basket

Hi Tammy, love your little pillow and hearts. They are so sweet. What lovely little "thinking of you" treasures for someone. I think I need to start making something like these. Dear girl, where do you find the time to do all you do ... but I'm glad you do. Thanks for all the inspiration you give me! Have a wonderful day.

I think I know you,and what you can do, but then you go and try new things that leave me saying "I did not know you could do that!!". I LOVE your little hearts, free hand embroidery and all! Really, you are something else, my friend. I get so stuck on what I am doing now that it is rare that I try new things. I love that you are always looking for new things to do. Keep it up, my friend!

Love your little hearts. Free hand embroidery is my favorite. You can lightly draw with pencil and just stitch over it, too.

I love your hearts and that you tried out the stitching you'd been meaning to do- I want to make some embroidered hearts, too.
