Another Crafty Morning

It would seem that the only time I post lately is when I have an art date with Aruna or meet-up with my craft group.
Did you know that Thursday was Granny Square Day hosted by Simply Crochet Magazine?
Above are some of the squares that crafters in Kuwait submitted to our group for posting.
Mine are the bottom left and right.  I'm a traditionalist when it comes to granny squares.
They are my go-to project when I'm not sure what I want to do.
But on Friday, I did try this free pattern designed by Frederika Creates which can be found on the Mollie Makes website.

Yesterday my craft group met at yet another new coffee shop (they are opening right and left over here).  This one is called Bon.
I had a Spanish Soy Latte which was pretty darn good.  Most places say they can't do designs with soy milk but this barista proved them wrong.
Zhraa made vegan lemon muffins again and boy were they yummy!
She also made each of us a tiny granny square decoration for our phones.

Some members were returning from summer holidays.
Suzanne went to Shetland where she learned all about lace knitting.

Carol Ann was in Greece and brought souvenir magnets.
I'm just about running out of room on my fridge.
Amal is working on a needlepoint that's been year's in the making.  She's filling in all the background now.  So beautiful, so much work.
For show-n-tell there was a sheep, a blanket, a purse and a needlepoint case.
And the piece de resistance was Carol Ann's sewing case.
Can you guess where she's from?  :)
All the sides are stitched with motifs.
And inside there's a needlecase, scissor fob, bluebonnet magnet, and the cutest cactus pincushion.
She's currently stitching up Van Gogh's sunflowers.
While I humbly worked on quick coasters that didn't require much thought while talking.

Last Sunday hubby and I were wandering the streets of Sofia. Bulgaria.
More about that soon.
Have a peaceful Sunday!

I'm in the craft doldrums at the moment. Lots going on in my head but not much in practice. This post had a lot of ideas for me especially the lovely unusual granny squares.
Hope you are well Tammy, you are often in my thoughts.

Tammy!!!! You have provided so much eye candy for us today. My comment would be waaaay too long if I said how much I love each and every item you have shown us. There are some very, very talented ladies in your group. I really did look at each item and think how beautiful they are.
I didn't know about Granny Square day until I started a baby blanket of grannies on Thursday. Then I saw it online and though how appropriate it was.
Your refrigerator looks much like the top of mine. For the most part, I'm keeping the top for magnets of places I've visited.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Betsy

I'm really glad you post after your meet-ups, because I sort of feel like a vicarious member of your group, and it's always so interesting to see the range of crafts and creations! That Shetland knitting is just my cup of tea, but I enjoy all the colorful things just as much.
And now I'll look forward to your next travel post :)

It must be such a joy to get together with your craft group and with friends returning from their vacations and bringing along what they have been crafting there must have been much to chat about whilst crafting. Your group is very talented and you meet in some great cafés. Have a lovely week!

Wow! I love all the things your group members make. I would not have the patience for needlepoint which makes Amal's work all the more impressive.
There's no guessing where Carol Anne comes from, indeed!
Your coasters are lovely, pure and simple - they remind me of sunflowers, after you mentioned them, because of their colours and shape.
Is that an Amsterdam streetscape on your fridge?
I'm looking forward to vicariously exploring the streets of Sofia with you next time.
Have a lovely week, Tammy! x

Dearest Tammy,
So much to see here. LOVE the soy Latte and indeed that barrista proved them all wrong. But often such claims are lame excuses...
What special handwork these ladies are producing. Love the knitted lace also.
You always make cute little things, indeed if you must concentrate too hard it is no fun when trying to chat.
Super that you walked the streets of Sofia, Bulgaria, We did not see the capital though.
By the way, did you know that the the former President of Georgia till 2013, is married to a Dutch woman? Sandra Elisabeth Saakasjvili-Roelofs.
Sending you hugs from a rainy Georgia today.

Fantastic creations from your group Tammy! So many talented ladies and so much inspiration! I have always wanted to try a square with the flower at the corner just like the first one in your collage and seeing it tempts me even more.

Hello Tammy,
What a creative group you hang out with! Love the granny square variations. Your coasters are so pretty, too. The colours look like autumn. Looking forward to reading more about Sofia.

Hi Tammy....Thanks for your visit and comment to Writing Straight from the Heart. Definitely get out your dollies, wherever they are, and display them! It will make you happy.

Love all the squares. You are soooo talented! And that needlepoint is an amazing, incredible work of art. I cannot even imagine doing it.

Hope you are well and enjoying each moment of life. Most sincerely, Susan

Lovely granny squares!

Our soy cappucinos always have designs...I think the trick is to make the froth thick enough to hold a design. OH, those vegan lemon muffins look divine! YUM!

The lace knitting looks lovely! I remember years ago, that I used to crochet fine doilies, etc. Lovely needlepoint by Amal. Is needlepoint the same as cross-stitch? I've done a few cross-stitch pieces in the past. The ladies in your craft group are SO talented!

WOW....your fridge magnet collection is wonderful!

Those buildings in the bottom pic would make great sketch subjects.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, Tammy.

Cheers,
Serena :)

Tammy - wow - you have such a talented and diverse group of crafters. In the first shot, I like the granny square in the upper right hand corner. And then you know I would say I love the needlework - will it be a wall hanging or something else? I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and I look forward to the post about your trip.

I am always a bit jealous of your crafting outing with such creative friends. I have one friend who knits and only sporadically, that is why I love blogging so much. It connects me to others who love creativity as much as me.
