Yellow Monday

Last year on December 4th I posted about the colors of the week that I look for whenever I'm out for a walk.
From dark to pale, yellow is the color of the day.
I took a yellow heart with me and hung it on a fence pole.
Spotted this pretty flower poking out from the side of someone's driveway.
Any idea what it is?
Sometimes I find interesting things on the ground, like lost toys, and thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun if I found something yellow.
You can imagine my surprise and utter delight when I came across this guy.
We find from experience that yellow excites a warm and agreeable impression.... The eye is gladdened, the heart expanded and cheered, a glow seems at once to breathe toward us.
JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE, Goethe's Theory of Colours
Yellow is the colour which is closest to light. We associate the rays of the sun and the stars with it. It is the radiance of the spirit.

Last night the sighting of the crescent moon marked the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
This afternoon I quickly whipped up a moon and stars.

Ramadan Mubarak (Blessed Ramadan)
and
Happy Monday!

Beautiful post Tammy, I was not always fond of yellow but lately I am learning to love it more-especially in nature. I believe that flower is a snapdragon, and the toy what a fun find!
Enjoy your week Kathy

What a fun and uplifting post, my friend! I am wondering if the mystery flower is a sweet pea? I got a big kick out of your found yellow toy.. what a funny little thing! We're in Lilac nirvana here on the farm. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Lovely yellow pics, Tammy! A great idea to look for a particular colour. Love the yellow heart!

Sorry I haven’t been around online...losing Cody was hard. Still miss him. Last week, I finally had the LARS gluteal tendon repair surgery done on my hip so recuperating at home now. Dependent to crutches...long recovery ahead but hopefully, it will be a successful outcome.

Enjoy the rest of your week. xx

By the way, I think your mystery flower may be a Snapdragon. I remember seeing a lot of them in my childhood years. Haven’t seen any for a very long time.

Beautiful yellow! Not really one of my favourite colours, but I do enjoy it in small doses and it adds a lot to the landscape. I believe the flower is a snap dragon, as someone has already said.

Hi Tammy, the flowers are so beautiful especially the sunflower she is known as the flower snapdragon you ask here, you can press on the sides of the flower with your fingers lightly and try again when you see your mouth opens again :)

Now I know why I love yellow - thanks to the quotations that you shared.

I agree with the other respondents that the flower you queried is a snapdragon. They were a favourite at school where they grew in windowboxes. We'd make them 'talk' and say funny things.

Wishing you a peaceful Ramadan.

Tammy - reading your posts back to back, it was like a breath of fresh air to see these bright spots of yellow in this post! I agree with others that your mystery flower looks like a snapdragon!

Dearest Tammy,
Yes, this is one of the happiest colors, a sunny color by all means.
Guess you came across the Linaria vulgaris, or Toadflax as they also call it.
Your photo with the bee on the flower resembles our newly planted Lantana New Gold.
We filled our window boxes along the driveway with them and also near the veranda and kitchen bay window.
Most other plants died from heat and such. This we have observed while biking, withstands drought and heat.
So we're keeping our fingers crossed this time and hope they will last! Found them 1.5 hours driving from us and we picked up 45 plants. They're blooming already at their best along the driveway, adding so much JOY!
Hugs and meaningful Ramadan.
Mariette

Dearest Tammy - I like to see all these sunny yelows!
The flower you discovered is in German language called Löwenmäulchen - that means little mouth of a Lion; I found the translation "snapdragon".
Hope you have happy May-days! We had a very nice blogger meeting in Munich on the first weekend in May.
