Art Washes Away the Dust

At least once a week, I try to get together with my friend, Aruna, for some artsy endeavors.
June 27th started out slightly dusty when we met and by the time we left a couple of hours later, it was a full blown sand storm.
In fact, the month of June was filled with many of these storms.  It seemed like we were having them every few days.

That's when the quote:

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

― Pablo Picasso

becomes very literal.
On this day, we were joined by Emina who introduced us to lettering.
We molded some air drying clay.
And, of course, did some sketching.
This past Wednesday, Aruna and I met at a new coffee shop in a new complex that I had not been to yet called Argan Square.
Love how the wooden trellis makes such a gorgeous geometric pattern over the walkway.
The interior of the coffee shop is all about wood so feels very warm and inviting.

This time we played with mixed media and watercolors.
 Inspiration can come from anywhere.
It's especially nice to have artsy friends who encourage us to stretch our wings.

Sunday blessings,

Dearest Tammy,
I love the playing with art of you and your friends - the pictures became beautiful and meaningful. Certainly they washed away the dust! The shadow pattern is really fascinating!
Lots of Sunday-hugs,

I think it's so wonderful that you craft and create art with your friends. I don't really know anybody who does that, maybe just my husband so we do arty things together a lot. That was some dust storm, glad you were able to stay inside and do something inspiring!

I like how your sketch book becomes a memento of your travels and companions. The wooden trellis is amazing - a simple idea but sooo effective (and cheaper than laying fancy patterned paving). Very clever and perfect for a spot in full sun. Ideas noted! I hope the dust disappears for longer than a few days.

Oh how I love your craft group and I'm so pleased to see you're learning calligraphy! I adore it. I took it in high school in art class - the infamous calligrapher Lloyd Reynolds lived in the Portland area and I learned his technique and really took to it. You should goggle his name. You'll come up with him on YouTube videos giving instruction. Practice every day if you can! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

So much talent in your little group!
I am very private about anything I create, in that I really don't like to do it with others. But I love what you all have created. :)

Dearest Tammy,
Yes, taking the dust from everyday life away is so important and you literally did so.
True happiness is found in the little things and even doubles when we can share it with like-minded souls.
Love your sketches and you found some kindred spirits in that area as well.
That trellis look wonderful form the inside of the coffee shop, from the outside and when walking underneath it looks like intricate tile work!
Sending you hugs and thanks for sharing such joyful images ongoing.
Mariette

Your sketching (and other talents) - wonderful. Unfortunately, my knitting group has not met consistently even though I tried to lead by example … so, still looking for some crafty ladies to get together with … in the meantime, I will enjoy your get-togethers vicariously!

With physical limitations, my art group must be my online sketching friends - and I am so lucky to have them, including you :)
