Walking the Old Streets Again

For those who guessed Jerusalem, Palestine, you are correct.

On September 22nd we traveled to Jerusalem via Jordan.
View from our hotel lobby.
My husband's extended family lives in and around the old city.

Another couple accompanied us.  It was their first time visiting the Holy Land so after greeting the family and having lunch, we headed to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where I once again lit candles for my friend;s parents (her dad died in 2015 and her mom in 2016).  I also lit a candle for my Uncle Bob who just passed away on September 18th, five days short of what would have been his 81st birthday.
There were lots of tour groups visiting so quite crowded at times.

We walked through the souq every day.
And wandered the streets as we headed to different religious and historical spots.

 Dasman Gate

We saw so much in the 3 days we were there but I'll have to break it up into future posts.

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday.

I love traveling through your photos. My husband has been here many years ago when he lived and worked in Israel...before I knew him. <3

I can't imagine how it feels to walk those narrow streets. Seems like it would be overpowering. Looking forward to reading and seeing more about your visit!

Hi Tammy! I have just savored your posts I missed while traveling in August and September. I appreciate your positive quotes and your creative encouragement. I am sorry to learn of the deaths of those for whom you cared, but it is wonderful of you to remember them with lighted candles...honoring the light in each of them. Your latest lovely stitching inspires me to want to stitch more! Recently my10-year-old great-niece asked me to help her learn to crochet...she got as far as chaining and single crocheting, but I am hoping she will enjoy practicing and learning more as your little student did. Thank you for investing your love in family and friends, and cats and creative crafts, making our/my world more beautiful! xx

Wonderful pictures. I was quite surprised by the ones with no people (and the cat) - how ever did you manage that? I remember the souk from our visit to Morocco - the spice stalls always amazed me with the variety and the colors! Looking forward to more pix! Have a lovely weekend!

I've enjoyed walking the streets of the old city with you. Your post brings it all back in my mind from the occasions I did the same many years ago. I also love the view that you saw from your hotel window.
