Winter Project Party

It's still not quite winter here yet (currently 98 F at 2:00 p.m.), but the fact that it's below 100 F during the middle of the day is a very good sign.
Once every two weeks I meet with my craft group and yesterday morning was one of those days.
 Knitting, crochet, embroidery.
Lots of different projects, ideas and advice shared when we gather.
I always take something mindless to work on since I usually wind up doing a whole lot of talking.  Unfortunately, on round two of the off-white yarn I'm adding, I realized I had accidentally placed a corner in the middle of the row.  Oops!
Perhaps I was distracted by the delicious vegan orange cake Zahra brought.

At least it's easy to frog a crochet project, so that's what I will be working on.  In fact, I have many baby granny blankets in the works and am mostly trying to use up stash yarn.

I'm joining Jennifer at Thistlebear for her 2017-2018 Winter Project Link Party.
And looking forward to cooler weather.
Happy Sunday!

I can imagine how much you look forward to cooler weather, Tammy. Our summer wasn't even as hot as yours but I'm so glad it's over. It's wonderful that you get to meet with your craft group so often. Orange cake sounds good to me. I love everything with citrus fruits.

I'll be joining the Winter Project too, but have to get that sorted before I can post about it ;)
I understand about the crocheting/knitting with a group. I once spent two hours with a knitting group on World Knitters Day. When I got home, I had to rip out all the work I had done because of all the mistakes. Clearly, only straight boring knitting is all I can do when there are distractions!
The cake looks delicious, and all your handicrafts look so nice. It must have been a pleasant morning spent with friends. Our weather has yet to cool down too.

How fun to get together with like-minded creative souls and spend time. Talking and eating would definitely have me needing to frog any project. Beautiful cooler weather for you...<3

I always take something that does not require any attention whatsoever to knit group... it is really nice to get together and craft. x

I know what you mean about the simplest of craft work for taking to Knit & Natters. I have often returned home only to frog it. Yummy looking cake. Cathy x

Hi Tammy, thanks for joining in with my link party! I always enjoy seeing what you're working on. You seem to have such a nice time crafting with friends. I don't think I'd be able to crochet very well and talk at the same time. It's hard enough for me to crochet and watch TV. :)

I make mistakes all the time even when I am alone and have no one to talk to. Glad you had a great visit with friends.

Your craft party looks like ton of fun and chatting. The refreshments looked good too.

Love the picture of the trees and shadows.

The orange cake looks delicious.
I never tried to make a cake with
orange flavour.
Is there Orange blossom water in it?

I wish I could crochet. You are all
doing so beautiful things with yarn.

Wishing you a great start of this week!
:) Sussie

Wow its hard to believe it's still that warm in October. Hopefully the cooler weather will make it's way to you soon. The good about crochet is that you can easily pull the yarn and back track as much as you want so messing up isn't that big of deal. You can't do the same with knit

Tammy, you always make beautiful creations with your craft group. Of course you were distracted by the delicous cake! But I am sure that in the end your crochet turned out fantastic! Kisses, my friend.

Dearest Tammy,
Yep, concentrating on even the simplest of tasks, is very hard in a group!
That vegan dessert looks and sounds yummy and no less getting together with kindred spirits is great.
Here in the heart of Georgia we also have warm, humid and sunny days still.
Had to take a shower after riding our bike... Feels great in doing so.
We escaped for 2 nights to Columbus for finally riding our bikes along the river on the RiverWalk, all the way to Fort Benning.
We ate some spring rolls there on a bench outside and headed back. Loved the quietness and being totally in nature with all its beauty and sounds. For Pieter it was the maximum but I felt mighty proud of him for doing almost 30 km together with me.
Also a ride along the 13 lakes of Callaway Gardens we did (not all the lakes done yet...) and we will be back more often as we got ourselves a year card!
Sending you hugs from a warm area to an even warmer area.
Mariette

This begins my sad time of year - autumn and winter which hangs on for half the year (the winter part).

There's little better than gathering with a group of friends for chatting, eating, and stitching. Mistakes can be chalked up to having a good time!

I always take something easy to my craft group too. There is usually too much chatting to get anything done! I think that is the nice thing about meeting up at a craft group :) That cake looks delicious

Tammy - as always, the projects look like so much fun. You'll be happy to know that I have joined the prayer shawl ministry. It is knitting, which I have not done for a long time. I did not get a lot of direction from our leader, so I looked on the web and started my own design. A week later I got together with her, and she suggested I do something a lot simpler. So, we'll pulled it apart and started over. She gave me some suggestions on technique, and I was struggling with it to the point that I could not even have a conversation, I was concentrating so hard. So, she finally said - just do it the way you like - and now I can whip out rows and talk at the same time! Watch a future post for more!!! Have a great week!

I don't know how you handle that sort of heat, my son says it is a different sort. that the state of Georgia is far worse then the heat there ...but I dunno it sounds brutal. I always love seeing your crocheted bits. it makes my heart smile.

What a beautiful shady spot that you show in your last photo! I hope that the weather is getting much cooler. Here in Yorkshire some days are mild and damp and at other times like today there are cold winds blowing although, thankfully, it is dry with a weak sunshine. I must pick up my crocheting again in an evening. You're group must be such a joy. The refreshments brought by the members delicious must be delicious.

I know I always have to take a mindless project to my groups too, many a mistake has been made I can tell you, I love the look of that cake it looks yummy. My youngest son started working in Qatar in August, it has taken him a while to get used to the heat yesterday he said, the weather is lovely and cool now it's just 30 C I had to laugh at his idea of cool. :) x

Hi Tammy, Yes it has been awhile but I just enjoy visiting your blog and seeing what you have been up to. Lovely things I can see. Your weather is what we had all summer. No rain all summer and lots of wildfires. But now lots of rain and cool weather. I can knit but crochet is a challenge. LOL Take care, Sharon

I can't manage anything complicated in a group setting either, so easy to make a mistake surrounded by good company, tea and cake.Hx
