Five on Friday: Out and About

'Ahlan Wasahlan
Hello and Welcome.

Today I am joining Amy at Love Made My Home for Five on Friday.
Yesterday I missed my daily walk because of a horrible migraine; actually went to bed at 8:30 p.m. and didn't get up until 7:45 this morning.  I'm guessing my body needed some serious rest.
Thankfully I awoke ready and raring to go and today was a gorgeous day to be out and about.
Every winter these hollyhocks are a happy sight at a home right across the street from my neighborhood walking path.
We went to one of our favorite seafood restaurants for lunch only to find that it had been moved to the front of the hotel and no longer has a sea view (we were told a new Chinese restaurant has taken it's place).  Seems a shame since the seafood restaurant is decorated with memorabilia from Kuwait's past based mainly on maritime trade and activities.
Snapped this picture of the moon in a deep blue sky while walking back to the car after lunch.

It is a beautiful and delightful sight to behold the body of the Moon.
-Galileo Galilei, The Starry Messenger, Venice 1610: “From Doubt to Astonishment”

Have a fabulous Friday!

I also have migraines from time to time and they can be horrible if I don't catch them on time. For me sleeping it off doesn't help at all. Good that sleep helps you.

Oh I'm so glad that your migraine is better. I know how horrible they are. Your photos make me long for summer, but I'm trying to be content in the here and now. Have a lovely weekend my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

Sorry you were not feeling well, but so glad you got some rest. I enjoyed all your pictures.

Hi Tammy, so sorry to hear about your migraine but happy that you woke up refreshed after a good sleep. It seems so wrong for a seafood restaurant should be moved from a seaview! :)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I so enjoyed seeing you and all your guys out for dinner together. It's good that you can get the boys home for the holidays, I know it must cost a fortune to do so. Have a wonderful new year, my friend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

So glad the rest cured the migraine. The hibiscus is such a pretty, feminine looking flower. How fun to see you all together!

I am glad you are feeling better! The Holly Hocks look like mine I had this summer! I really enjoy them because they remind me of a favorite auntie who grew them by her back door. Hoping you and yours have a lovely weekend, Tammy xx

So nice to see flowers instead of bare trees and shrubs.

That's an interesting teakettle in the restaurant photo. At least I think it's a teakettle.

Hope we get to see more photos of Kuwait in the future.

What a joy to see beautiful flowers in wintertime! And the photo of the moon is wonderful in its blue...
Sad, when a seafood restaurant has no more a sea view (ours is by the food maket outside the town and has a view over the car park, but the foods are so delicious!).
By the way: my sweetharts father is from Syria and we say such phrases like Ahlan Wahsalan too, although we don't speak Arabian, but the begin of your post looks familiar to me :)
Enjoy your weekend, without migraine

Dear Tammy
Happy New Year - may there be many good things in store for you all in 2017.
I sympathise with you as I get a migraine about once a year and I agree going to bed in a dark room is the only solution. I've got some great tablets so they help.
Good to be back walking out and about - oh those Hollyhocks are gorgeous - and they flower in Winter??!!
Earlier this afternoon I popped in to see one of neighbours and she has three Hollyhocks flowering in red, pink and apricot and well over 6 foot tall!
Thank you for popping in to say hello - after being absent for so long I'm enjoying catching up with my old friends!
See you again soon
Hugs

Glad the sleep did you good as a migraine is a miserable experience. Shame that one of your favourite restaurants has been rearranged. The seafaring memorabilia looks interesting such as the ship's wheel light. Lovely blue skies after some cloudy ones recently. Hope you continue to enjoy the time with your sons.

I hope Sam had a great birthday! I miss seafood here and what a shame that the restaurant moved. They probably raised the rent but really that restaurant belongs near the sea. obviously. How interesting to view pictures of the history of the sea port. There are so many interesting places in the world that I will never see but who knew that I would be able to see so much through the cameras of my blogging friends! You don't see that type of thing on travel videos so thank you so much! I hope you stay well! Hugs~Sam

That photo of the hollyhocks is stunning - I keep going back to look at it. Well done, and thank you for sharing it. We could do with some of that beautiful blue sky here. Happy weekend. x

Glad you're feeling better. Nice photos. As you probably saw on my Instagram, it was 0 degrees here this morning for what amounted to an hour and a half hour power walk/run. I always stay warm though, it's good to be out in the fresh air. It's 22 now and that's basically our high, so a little difficult for me to imagine places in the world with flowers right now, but yes, I love hollyhocks too and mine will be blooming again sometime this midwestern summer.

We've just arrived back from our usual Saturday lunch and beer out and now are settling in here for the evening, which is a bit boring to me. I don't like to be in at home much anymore... will have to find something to piddle with.

So sorry you had a migraine. I get those every once in awhile and know how horrible they are. Can't wait until our weather warms up enough where I can go walking outside - we've had frigid cold temps.

Ugh..I hate migranes. Years ago I got them and I would sometimes put a heating pad to the back of my head. It seemed to help. Hollyhocks in the winter! Thanks for sharing that picture. The only color we have is white (snow) and brown (grass and trees)! I miss color in the winter. Keep sharing!

Such beautiful and "warm" photos! I always feel like I was right there when I come to your blog. I understand all to well about migraines as well. I was a major sufferer before my stroke and they went away...but now have been coming back. :( I wish you a very Happy and healthy 2017!

Dearest Tammy,
Well, I got way behind with my bad cold and bronchitis but I'm trying to catch up.
So happy to see you all together; what an enormous blessing.
Yeah I had my teeth cleaned before Christmas too; always feels good.
On December 23rd I had 3 pre-cancer spots on my nose frozen so at Christmas I really looked like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer... Awful and right after that a bad cold so only when I got new skin, it looked presentable again!
But that's life and we enjoyed some fragrant and fresh paper whites in a vase, from our own garden.
Watched the snowflakes fall but not stick... no happy moment of making again such white world photos like 15 years ago.
Our felines stay mostly inside as it is too cold and all year I have not been walking and biking, afraid for a relapse if I would risk too much too soon. With my rare auto immune disease always need to be cautious.
When I have a headache I drink extra water as that often is a reason that somehow the brain did not get hydrated enough. I cannot take over the counter meds due to my CKD so I do drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruits and veggies and healthy foods and REST enough.
My Dutch 1st cousin did visit our daughter Anita in Indonesia and that was very special. His wife is also Javanese, the reason that they went for 7 weeks this time, with daughter and grandchildren too. But he called me in the middle of last night... by mistake as turned out. It scared me and I jumped out of bed, thinking that something happened to my Dad... But I did lay awake for about 3 hours! Hope tonight I will sleep tight and feel rested tomorrow.
Starting choir rehearsal again on Tuesday evening... routine is back.
Hugs,
Mariette

I love Hollyhocks! They are so pretty! Migraines are so painful. I hope you do not have them often! The restaurant sounds wonderful but I am like you.......if it has a wonderful view, I want that view to stay!

Glad you are over that migraine...they really can be debilitating. Lovely walk and nice to get out for lunch. Too bad they had to move. The moon always enchants me and last night was the January Full Wolf Moon. The clouds cleared and I was able to gaze upon it for hours. Stay well dear...

Great photos, Tammy. By now, your boy is back in Colorado and your Mother's heart is, perhaps, a little sad. So glad both boys could come home for awhile. Ice storms across the midwest. Hope all is well for him. Take care and enjoy the sunshine. It's freezing here. Susan
