Volunteer Day

Every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until noon, I volunteer at one of the government hospitals (the same one where my husband was born oh so long ago :)
KACCH - Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital was founded in 1989 and officially recognized as a charitable organization in 2003.
It is operated by the philosophy that providing appropriate play opportunities for children in hospital can aid in their healing process.
We paint, we color, we play games ... whatever the child chooses to do when they enter the KACCH playroom.  It also allows me to be a kid again.
When we don't have many patients, I crochet hearts to give away.
Sometimes I even crochet when the kids are there because they and their moms are usually very intrigued.

Yesterday morning, I intentionally left a little early so I could stop for a quick walk and take a few pictures by the Kuwait Towers.

 Have a nice relaxing weekend,

You have found an upbeat volunteer stint and I am sure the kids enjoy the art and other activities with you. I volunteer at the opposite end of the age spectrum, visiting ladies in their 80s. It is all good. The shade from the trees in your photo looks like a blessing in a hot land.

What a wonderful thing you're doing Tammy. Helping to brighten the day for a sick child and their Mom's is something that they will never forget. You give of yourself in so many ways with this and the garden.
Blessings,
Betsy

Appropriate play is so important for us all, but especially so when a child is trying to get well. When my youngest son was six he was hospitalized for over a total of six weeks, and needed to have someone like you to encourage him. The sites and sights around you amaze me, Tammy. Thanks for posting! xx

Tammy, God bless your heart! I know how much those little darlings need being swept away from their ailments and diseases and I applaud you for your generosity, kindness and love you so unselfishly pour around yourself!

Dearest Tammy,
You look so YOUNG in that photo; must be because you enjoy thoroughly what you're doing!
Hats off to you for finding so many outlets in what to touch others.
Finally catching up on blogging, had to recover for a couple of days since we got home on Tuesday morning by 1:00 AM.
Having driven the 4,135 km (only me!) kind of did wear me out. But we had a lovely wedding in the South of France and the rest of the journey was pleasant with visits of friends and family.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

It's good that you're a volunteer on the children's ward doing art activities. It helps to make the time there for the children a little easier and I know you do it with love. (I was with the hospital and home teaching service before retiring. It's satisfying work).

What a super volunteer! I'm sure you receive many blessings in return, but my hat is off to you still. Love the trees and architecture pics, too.

Such a great thing to do and it is rewarding seeing the children smile. I used to go to the school once a week to help the with remedial reading. Lovely photo of you.

You look so happy that I'm sure your presence cheers up the young patients a lot. Art is a wonderful way for children to leave their illnesses for a bit. Beautiful towers.

Lovely photos, Tammy! How nice that you volunteer at the hospital. The volunteers do such a great job. Each year, our 'Sing For Health' Mater Hospital choir performs for the Hospital Volunteers at their annual Christmas parties. They are very much appreciated. :)
