Crafting at the Boulevard

Once upon a time there was a very large empty lot that was drab and dirty.  But a couple of years ago, or more, it was cordoned off and construction began.
Now there's an urban oasis.
It was my neighbor who told me that some shops had opened in the mall and that the outdoor area was really nice, so I had to check it out for myself.
The outdoor landscaping is so much more than I expected -- green and lush with a man-made lake running through it.
The indoor mall is spacious with lots of natural light and nice views.
And the best thing is that it is only 10 minutes walking distance from where I live.
So when I planned yesterday's crafty morning meet-up, I knew I would be walking there rather than driving.
Usually I'm not too thrilled with all the building that goes on around here, but I'm quite impressed with this place and definitely feel it was worth the wait.  Kudos to whoever designed it.
My crafty friends were very happy with the location and we look forward to making use of the outdoor space when winter weather rolls around.

Sunday blessings,

How NICE! It certainly looks like an oasis, and a very well-thought-out use of space. Bonus that it is so close to your home. And I love bridges a person can walk across and look down from and have a little think.

What a lovely area! I agree with you, the designer should get a hearty round of applause. I hope you have many meet ups there. :) Kit

What a wonderful outdoor space to explore and enjoy. So much nicer than a wasteland. I like the shadow pattern on the walkway. xx

Wonderful! I know you get very discouraged with the lack of care in some areas around you, so it is especially encouraging you have found a haven near you, Tammy. Thanks for sharing its beauty with us. xx

Wow! I'm impressed with the new shopping area. And think of the exercise you will get walking there. And I think it's nice that they have a place you can meet with your crafty friends. I'm guessing a coffee shop! And yay...they showed up! I have to tell you I have thought about your post quite a lot, about "four coffee dates cancelling all in one week". It hurts. I'm going through something a bit similar right now. One friend, who has been a friend for years, and has always been this way...does NOT return phone calls. I know she's like that, but I've just decided I'm tired of one sided relationships. And another good friend, hasn't even seen our house yet. I'm not talking about acquaintances, these are people I've been friends with for 30 years or more. I think it's sad the callous way people treat each other anymore. Have a great Monday! Is it Monday there?

PS. To not have crazy bad winters would be great!

Looks like a wonderful place! :)
My midday run today was delightful because finally the hot humid weather has left and it's lovely - dry, cool air in the low 70s for highs. Of course, I walk and run outdoors all year long even in below zero temps and in the hard rains, because I prefer only outdoor walks/runs, but this probably is the best time of year here to be out (though we have tons of biting bugs here in the fall).

Hope you enjoy a nice week.

Tammy, I am so happy to see this beautiful oasis only a 10 minute walk from you! I know the litter and lack of pretty gardens has been upsetting to you, so this is very good news. I look forward to seeing more of it with your friends crocheting and knitting and enjoying yourselves there. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I'm normally not a fan of construction either, but this place looks lovely! Lucky you that it's only a 10 min walk from your home.

Dearest Tammy,
Indeed kudos to whomever designed and built it.
That proves that it can be done and it should be done more often to enhance neighborhoods and bring many smiles of happiness to people's face.
Happy for you and good thing it is within walking distance.
Hugs,
Mariette

The area has had a good transformation into an attractive place to walk and shop. I like that traditional motif as well as the modern design which shows up well in your photo of the shadows of that roof.

The shadows the architecture creates are beautiful, too!

I saw the photos from the marine museum too

"thousand and a night" stories...

Have a wonderful week!
