Garden Morning

This morning I had a fun time helping out at the The Secret Garden with a group of preschoolers who came for a field trip.  Interacting with young children, teaching them about composting, garden soil, planting and watering, is always refreshing and definitely filled with surprises.
My reward, besides satisfaction, is bringing home a little harvest of greens.
Gorgeous spinach that was turned into lunch.
I sauteed the spinach in a little olive oil along with a chopped tomato.  Then added vegetable broth, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, turmeric and chickpeas.  I had some leftover rice from yesterday so stirred that in and within 15 minutes had a simple, healthy, delicious lunch.
The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.
Alfred Austin

Have a blessed day!

How sweet of you Tammy to give your time to the children. I think it's very important to teach them about gardening and where food comes from. It's so good of you to do that. And the soup looks wonderful. You always have the best recipes. Have a lovely day my friend. Blessings, Betsy

I love to take a veggie and add all kinds of other veggies with them and concoct something I have never had before. Using olives, onion, Avecado and a little cream cheese for protein today. I would love your lunch.

That's wonderful :)
I am in the midst of planning my garden for this year right now. Of course, we can't plant outdoors here until middle of May, if you go by the old wives stories, but I always ignore that and normally plant around the very end of April if the weather is warm enough. This year... who knows. It's unseasonably cold here right now - today's high is about 41 degrees though all of the springtime flowers and trees are just growing along as usual and I've already had to mow our yard twice now in the past week, so everything progresses according to schedule.

Your lunch looks good to me. Jim still doesn't really like stuff like that so we still have our own typical meals, though my "lunch" is never more than a handful of berries or fruit and usually a small yogurt. Dinner is our only main meal of the day and it's usually something from the Skinnytaste recipes, or something of that order that the family likes.

Look how much this garden has grown since I've been traveling! INCREDIBLE!!! Glad the children are still loving it so much, too.

Fun, fun times in the garden. I was teaching Lidia and Sawyer about composting this weekend, too. Your recipes make my mouth water! Your spinach dish looks so delicious.

I love what you are doing with the Secret Garden Garden, Tammy. You are making so many children (and their parents) very pleased I'm sure. I really enjoyed volunteering at my children's school when they were young; book fairs, lunch duty, field trips and working in the kitchen at basketball games. I know these kids really appreciated Mrs. B! A great feeling to 'DO'.

Your soup looks wonderful, chock filled with 'good for you' stuff. I have turmeric and will definitely add it to see how that tastes. Can you tell me how much or is it just by taste?

Your last comment---I really don't feel I had a stomach bug, (I didn't want to elaborate on it in my post) this has happened three times now since I've been on the new meds. I try to think about what I've eaten, my timing in taking the meds...anything. I get by although I fight the feeling of throwing up all the time. I will have the drug decreased by half in 4 weeks and that will help I'm sure. Sounds crazy that I'm putting myself through this but my entire body was afflicted with a rash that was fast becoming infected. It was the miracle treatment for me. Thank your for asking about me!
